"Hurt" is not an original by Johnny Cash. The song was written by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) in 1994 for the album The Downward Spiral. Rick Rubin had to insist several times on Cash recording his version, at first Johnny found the idea completely insane because the original version is industrial and noisy. At 71, already very ill, almost blind and with trembling hands, Cash completely transformed the band. The iconic video, directed by Mark Romanek, was filmed at the House of Cash (his own museum). June Carter Cash appears looking at him fondly, the video was shot in February 2003, a few months before she died (May) and Johnny himself (September). Trent Reznor was so moved that he declared, "This song is not mine anymore." It is considered one of the best covers of all time.

And yet I have a friend with breasts so large she wears three sports bras, has permanent indentations in her shoulders and her back hurts all the time. Her insurance keeps denying her and says a breast reduction for her is elective surgery. Funny how breasts for men are more important to protect their feelings than the breasts impacting a woman’s health.

I literally gasped watching this Caleb Hammer asks how this transgender guest paid for his transition surgery, specifically “the boob job” He replies “That was free — Colorado taxpayers” - Transition surgery free - Boob job free - Hormones medications free All this was free, paid for by American taxpayers Again, I want to repeat this. US Taxpayers are paying for boob jobs for transgender men to get implants I had to verify this and it’s all true Colorado’s Medicaid program (Health First Colorado) covers gender-affirming care services, including surgeries like breast augmentation This was recently changed under their Democrat Governor In 2025, Colorado passed HB 25-1309 signed by Gov. Jared Polis. This codified and expanded insurance protections for gender-affirming care across plans, including hormone therapy, breast augmentation, facial surgery, and more It even prevents insurers from denying what transgenders consider medically necessary care. Private insurance plans in the state must also cover these services under essential health benefits rules Absolutely insane

I’ve seen some comments today about memorizing the oath, so here is my two cents: I’ve administered the oath, both to officers and enlisted, more times than I can count to more Soldiers than I can count. It’s been an absolute privilege. Do I have it memorized? Yes Am I also holding a printed copy that’s small enough to fit inside my hand that isn’t raised? Also yes. I have had more than one TBI. My brain doesn’t work as well as it used to. I was administering the oath a couple of years ago, and my brain just went blank. It’s one of the few moments when you can’t get it wrong, and I almost did. It’s ok to have it written down.

One of my kids made an offhand joke and I saw my opportunity to teach the very important — NEVER GO TO THE SECOND CRIME SCENE lesson. No no child. Someone tells you to “get in the car”? No. You throw down right there. Someone tries to kidnap you? You do not go. You do not comply. Whatever is planned at the secluded location is far worse than what is going to happen in that parking lot/store/wherever. One crime scene. Never two.

as i’ve said before, the right wing is the side of empathy when you show mercy to a violent criminal because you “empathize” with his “socioeconomic factors” thinking your kindness will heal his wounded heart in some sort of naruto talk no jutsu friendship heals all resolution that’s not empathy, that’s fucking retarded and reckless endangerment of the population empathy is when you put yourself in his shoes and realize that he wants to stomp you to death with them because he thinks the noises you make when he does it are funny. empathy is the skill of being able to read what is going on in his mind, able to hear how quiet it is, the ability to separate yourself from the naive notion that everyone is as thoughtful and introspective as you are it says a lot that right wingers can parody and satirize each other’s factions far better than leftists ever manage to parody any of them as a whole. right wingers analyze WHY people think certain ways, analyze WHERE others are coming from, and then judge them accordingly. to empathize is not to be “non-judgemental”, rather to judge at all requires effectively empathizing as a prerequisite this is where the confusion around women being the “empathetic” gender arises. they are not empathetic, they are sympathetic. they feel bad for others purely as a gut emotional reaction based off optics without any consideration for the actual dynamics driving them and their situation. they’ll demand softer punishments for heinous criminals because it would make them sad and they’re like, heckin oppressed babies. their sympathy is entirely based around how much agency they assume you have. the less agency, the more like a toddler you are in their eyes and they will seek to nurture you, even if that lack of agency makes you into a deranged crack addict or welfare leech or violent criminal right wingers are not unempathetic, they are unsympathetic. it is a masculine harsh judgement of others. the ability to see why they are how they are and if they turn out poorly despite having been given everything there is no sympathy for them. we don’t care about “victims” of “colonialism” whining to us decades later about how hard their lives are with the free infrastructure and education we gave them. we can empathize with them and feel their emotions, understand their thoughts, what we observe is entitlement, short-sightedness and selfishness. we do not feel bad for them you can not hug and kiss your way into changing people's nature, and if you do you are either doing it for your own ego or out of genuine naivety, but you are certainly not doing it out of empathy
𝖒𝖔𝖌𝖌𝖎𝖓𝖌@wanted4mogging

@kingbtc recognizing others are retards is a high empathy trait. empathy doesn’t always mean just feeling bad for people it means being able to accurately sense what things are like from their perspective, usually realizing they are subhumаns with nothing in their brain

@MCCCANM Coming back from HNL a few months ago and the pilot come out of the cockpit for the opening PA; literally the first time I’d ever seen that. Personally, I liked being able to put a face to the man whose hands our lives were gonna be in. It helped that he exuded quiet competence.

I think we can communicate better as pilots. Explain things to passengers in a non-technical way so they understand. They are much more patient when you do. I don’t love the podium address, though. It’s gotten cringe & kind of self-centered. I’m personally not a fan of coming out of the cockpit to give my opening PA, either…feels like I’m saying “hey, look at me! Clap for me!” and I also am reading it off a script I wrote on my yokenote. It’s the same format every time, I just update the names, forecast, cruise altitude, etc.. The airline app gives various excuses for the delay, based on how we are allowed to classify it, but I’ve found it to not be as helpful as it could be & often it generates more confusion. So a clear explanation helps, but that should be on the pilot that’s going to fly, not the one who brought the jet in. Finally, we take turns doing the PA when actually in flight…whoever is not flying does them. I’ve noticed plenty of First Officers that mumble or speak too softly…that isn’t going to be heard over those speakers. They also just say the absolute minimum (or even less) & don’t appear to have given any thought to how they will relay information, which is disappointing. When you turn the seatbelt sign on, tell them how long you think it might be on for. Better yet, give them a warning ahead of time if you suspect it may come on in the next 20 minutes or so. My airline doesn’t have any specific course on what to say & how, just some examples in the Operations Manual. I kind of wish we spent a couple hours talking about this. It’s most of your interactions with passengers – our paying customers – & can make a huge difference.

I just had the craziest experience at the airport. We are about to board a flight to Atlanta when the pilot from the incoming plane walks out of the jetway. Guy is probably late 50s, salt and pepper hair, military look. The kind of pilot you instantly feel good about seeing on your flight. Pilot walks over to the counter, gets on the PA system, and starts addressing everyone. “Folks, I’ve been doing this a long time. Flying one of these jets is easy. The hard part is looking at 130 people and telling them their flight is going to be delayed.” Audible groans throughout the boarding gate. Most people here are flying to Atlanta as a layover before another flight. 130 people just had their day become a complete mess. The pilot goes on. “I get it, trust me. But here’s the deal: During our landing, we had a small mechanical issue. I’m not your pilot for the next leg, but I don’t feel confident the jet’s safe to fly until we have a mechanical team look it over, and I don’t feel comfortable asking the next pilots to fly you guys until we get confirmation.” He points at the agents next to him behind the counter: “Now, none of this is the agents’ fault. Please be kind to them. I’m the one who made this decision, not them, so any inconvenience you experience is my fault. Just please know that I don’t do this lightly, and I’m only doing it because I believe it’s in the best interests of everyone’s safety.” Now this is where the story gets crazy. The pilot puts the microphone down, grabs his suitcase, and all the people in the gate… Start clapping. I’m not joking, everyone starts clapping for the guy. 130 people who just had their travel plans ruined give an ovation to the guy who made the decision and delivered the message. All because he addressed them with decency and transparency, took ownership of the decision, made it clear that it was necessary, and explained why it was in everyone’s best interest. It’s honestly one of the best examples of strong communication—of strong leadership, for that matter—that I’ve seen in a long time. @Delta, whoever your Atlanta to Wichita pilot was this morning, he’s one of the good ones. Please tell him the delayed passengers of flight 1637 appreciate what he did.

@Oilfield_Rando This is true. One of the critical parts of successful defiance of tyranny of the variety we are going to be dealing with is some level of political legitimacy. We will need local and state office holders who are on our side.

I'm a lot more open to the possibility of aliens than many people here, but the idea that anything related to aliens or UFOs could have "Bible-changing" implications is totally ridiculous. There is no reason why it should shake anyone's faith to find out that God created other lifeforms on other planets out there in the vast cosmos. There are like a hundred billion galaxies. My faith does not demand that I assume they're all completely empty.
