One thing I've noticed about these is that most ambitious political figures welcome this kind of engagement with people attempting to ask about ideas and the public interest; they meet all day with groups pushing their own interests

Always worth reading the NY Editorial Board. They do a great job recreating the kinds of lightly hostile in-depth interviews with candidates from a centrist perspective that newspaper editorial boards used to do.

Yes he needs to drop Israel but also we need someone like Bill Clinton or Obama to inspire Dems. Dem base loves young inspiring men. Shapiro, like Hillary Clinton, Biden and Harris, seems like a party politician not a talented outsider. Though his issue positioning (besides Israel) is correct

@zeiltin @mattyglesias He doesnt need to succeed nationally the election is not decided in California or New York and any other blue states. It is not decided in any red states either. The election will be decided in the swing states, and Shapiro would crush it in the swing states.
