Can you identify this fascinating creature? 🔬🪱 Hint: It loves guts, sticks to tape, comes out at night, and absolutely does not RSVP. Gender reveal pending…cast your vote 👇 @ParasiteGal #CrittersonTwitter #PathX

We think of a "null" (complete loss) p53 immunohistochemical staining pattern in Barrett's esophagus with high-grade dysplasia, but this example of low-grade dysplasia shows it.

Fun tip for budding #pathologists! When you see “shredded 🥕 ” (or zucchini or your favorite 🥗) in an esophageal biopsy - take a closer look! Candida loves to lurk around the desquamated debris, often on surface but can be detached too #GIpath Specials in the next tweet

These two collages display a variety of seeds that pathologists may encounter when examining tissues microscopically. Some of the seeds have a very distinctive appearance permitting their recognition whereas others resemble other seeds, and their origin may be difficult to recognize. They are all in the Atlas of Medical Foreign Bodies (flickr.com/phoytos/foreig…) Collage of 9 images on the left contributed by Dr. PascualMeseguer - @histopatolomon. Collage of 9 images on the right - Images of blueberry and papaya seeds are from Grillo F et al.The Seeds of Doubt: Finding Seeds in Intriguing Places. Front Med (Lausanne). 2021 Apr 14;8:655113. doi: 10.3389/fmed.2021.655113. PMID: 33937291; PMCID: PMC8079647. The other seed images are from Drs. One could easily mistake these for histiocytes. But what if I told you these findings were associated with a flask-shaped ulcer in the cecum of a patient from Mexico? #microbiology #pathtwitter #pathx #pathology

How to report intestinal metaplasia when you receive specimens labeled as -Distal esophagus: Barrett's esophagus (BE) -Squamocolumnar junction or Z-line: Consistent with Barrett's esophagus if biopsies were taken proximal to Gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) -GEJ: Do not diagnose Barrett's unless you see esophageal ducts or glands (see next post 👇). Say in a comment the differential diagnosis includes BE and intestinal metaplasia of gastric cardia Dr. Bell #CAP24 #pathology #pathologists #PathTwitter #PathX #pathresidents #pathfellow #GIpath
