We are facing political persecution by judicial authorities in Germany. 👇 Dear Public Prosecutor’s Office in Göttingen, please explain publicly how the German word “Umsiedlung” — which can mean relocation, resettlement or organized transfer — suddenly becomes “forced relocation.” Please explain where exactly I said that people should be expelled by violence or transferred against their will. Please explain where I described Israel as the perpetrator of a war crime. Please explain why a multilingual, politically debatable statement is being turned into an alleged crime under international criminal law. And please explain why exculpatory circumstances do not appear to be treated with the same care as incriminating interpretations. Because this is exactly what is happening: An open term is turned into coercion. Coercion is turned into a war crime. Israel is added as the perpetrator. And from that, a German penal order is created. That is not neutral legal interpretation. That is the most incriminating possible reading of a political statement. It becomes even more absurd when polling data show that voluntary emigration considerations in Gaza are real. According to the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, around 45 percent of respondents in Gaza already said in 2018 that they wanted to emigrate. In May 2025, around 43 percent said they would generally be willing to emigrate after the war; around 49 percent even said they would accept Israeli assistance to emigrate via ports or airports. These data do not justify any particular political solution. But they do refute the claim that the term “relocation” can only, and must only, be understood as force. A voluntary, incentive-based and internationally supervised exit or resettlement program is not expulsion. So please explain: do you want to prevent people who voluntarily want to leave Gaza from doing so? If voluntary emigration, resettlement or a politically organized admission program is already supposed to count as “expulsion,” then what is the consequence? Should people who want to leave Gaza be forced to stay? Should voluntary exit programs be criminalized? Should people be kept in a danger zone just so nobody uses the word “relocation”? Anyone who nevertheless turns this into “forced relocation” must explain the legal basis. And please explain what your interpretation does to the law. Section 8(1)(6) of the German Code of Crimes against International Law protects people from expulsion and forcible transfer — meaning from measures carried out against their will. But if even voluntary departure is treated as “forced relocation,” then protection against coercion is turned into coercion to remain. Then the law no longer protects people from being forcibly moved; it prevents voluntary escape and exit options. That shows how dangerous this interpretation is: it turns the protective purpose of international criminal law into its opposite. Protection against expulsion becomes an obligation to stay. Voluntariness is turned into coercion. And a humanitarian exit or resettlement model is turned into a war crime by mere reinterpretation. That is not legal reasoning. That is legal distortion. Section 140 of the German Criminal Code is not a tool for criminalizing political statements through maximum incriminating imagination. A statement must not be reinterpreted again and again until it fits into a penal order.
