Von morgen früh an wollen USA Schiffe durch die Straße von Hormus begleiten. Trump geht aus seinen Zwickmühlen heraus ein doppeltes Wagnis ein: dass Reedereien dem nicht trauen und das Angebot nicht nutzen, dass Iran gegen diese Schiffe vorgeht. Er hat keine besseren Optionen.

Therefore, a MBT equipped with a simple re-entry vehicle and good accuracy at the end of the boost phase would be a very effective response and could likely be deployed before 2030, while being significantly cheaper than the HGV version. The latter, of course, remains valuable for neutralizing the most hardened targets. But for soft targets such as industrial or energy sites, a conventional warhead is more than sufficient.

@Strandjunker @CarlottaPini Not correct. One of the major reasons America holds troops in Germany and other nations is as a mutual NATO counterweight to outside aggression. Iran taught America that Europe is not needed in forward operations. Our resourcefulness means we can manage without you.

US troops are not in Germany to protect Germany. They’re there because the US needs bases to conduct operations beyond the North American continent. If Trump withdraws them, he will harm the United States, not Germany. It’s absurd how many Americans fail to grasp this.

It's kind of funny that, because he can't admit that he started this war on the premise that Iran would capitulate immediately and now he has no idea how to get out of this mess, he's pretending that he could end it right away if he wanted to but he prefers to make it last more, which I'm sure Americans will love to hear when gas rises above $5/gallon.

Es ist erstaunlich wie ruhig das US-amerikanische Volk angesichts des außenpolitischen Amoklaufs ihres Präsidenten ist. Seit fast zwei Dekaden war bekannt, dass die USA als momentan einzige globale Supermacht in diesem Jahrhundert von China herausgefordert werden. Und China hat zudem lockere Verbündete, wie z.B. Russland, Iran und Nordkorea. Nationen, die alle US-feindlich sind. Und jetzt macht dieses autoritäre Quartett genau das, was erwartet wurde. Es fordert die USA heraus. Weil es erkannt hat, dass die USA momentan so schwach wie nie seit dem Ende des Kalten Krieges sind. Die USA brauchen also ebenfalls starke Verbündete. Und genau in dieser Situation wählt die USA mit Donald Trump einen Präsidenten, der systematisch selbst die engsten Verbündeten der USA vor den Kopf stößt. Der das NATO-Bündnis, was die bisherige Brücke zur globalen Machtprojektion der USA war, in Frage stellt. Der seine Abschreckung durch Flirts mit Präsident Putin ad absurdum führt. Die USA allein werden in diesem Jahrhundert nicht gegen China, Russland, Iran, Nordkorea und weitere befreundete Staaten bestehen können. Sie brauchen unsere Hilfe. Und wir brauchen ebenso die USA. Damit wir in Europa in Frieden und Freiheit leben können. Und Trump tritt genau jetzt alles ein! Wahnsinn! Warum schaut das US-amerikanische Volk diesem Treiben teilnahmslos zu? Denn geht das so weiter, steigen die USA weiter ab. Und das können wir Europäer nicht wollen.
