Had a few runnings to fulfill including a visit to a Mukuru outlet, took time to do a bit of shopping at the iconic Edgars Zimbabwe Needed some extra shorts , tees and jeans. I was impressed by the quality of rig in there as well as the air-conditioned environment. There are two Edgars stores located about diagonally opposite each other on 8th Avenue and both were pretty busy. I observed the store is still offering credit facilities, pay cash and the marked price is reduced by 16% . Fair enough, I say. The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair opened its gates today and the city is buzzing. You can feel it. Tuesday, time permitting , I plan a trip around the iconic High density suburbs of Luveve, Mzilikazi, Magwegwe and Makokoba. In 1992, I had won a Zesa tender with an outfit called RAMCO Electrical to install prepayment meters in the aforementioned areas, a pioneering project in Zimbabwe I might add, so it's a trip down memory lane for me. #SkiesChronicles #TheKingIsAround #HappinessIsOurBusiness.

The 5th Session of Zimbabwe-Botswana Bi-National Commission(BNC) commenced in Harare today, 19 April 2026, with the two countries' Permanent Secretaries responsible for Foreign Affairs co-chairing the meeting. Speaking during the opening ceremony, Ambassador Albert R. Chimbindi, the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe, highlighted that the BNC is a reflection of the exceptional relations and enduring friendship between Zimbabwe and Botswana. “…our two countries and peoples are inseparable, our destinies are inextricably linked,” said Ambassador Chimbindi. He further commended the ongoing joint operations by the two countries' security sectors in reducing stock theft along the borders. "These efforts have contributed to the establishment of base camps at Mabolwe/Mambaphele and Muvhimi /Maitengwe." The cooperation between Zimbabwe and Botswana has also contributed to the establishment of joint efforts between the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the Botswana Police Service (BPS) to reduce transborder criminal activities. Zimbabwe and Botswana also enjoy cooperation in the fields of agriculture where welfare and animal health are safeguarded . In his statement, Ambassador Thuso Ramodimoosi, the Permanent Secretary for International Affairs of Botswana stated that this session of the BNC will advance discussions that will ensure progress in strategic areas of cooperation including agriculture, health, energy, education, tourism infrastructure development and border security. “It is imperative that we continue to strengthen collaboration among ourselves as neighbouring States in the spirit of unity and shared purpose,” he said. Discussions will also explore joint cooperation in the improvement of cross border infrastructure, enhancing border management and effficiency and strengthening regional transport corridors to facilitate the movement of people goods and services.
