Mindfulness seems to be a bit better than value refleciton for improving decentering, but both work better than just checking in daily on mood and stress levels. Really amazing work by @yiyi_wang75 , please feel free to check it out!

one that permitted engagement with depressive phenomena through a present focused, sensory attuned lens that asked less about change and more about encounter, at least initially.

led to swifter reduction of depressive Sx and lower costs than continuing with UC alone. Becoming less reliant on conceptual thought, patients in the MBCT+UC group may have found a new way of knowing,

MBCT Is More Than Just Talk Two ways of knowing - a familiar MBCT watchword - was ingeniously studied in a trial of patients who didn't respond to standard talk therapies for depression. Sequencing to MBCT + Usual Care thelancet.com/journals/lanps…

@brentfranson What we are shifting is attention, but it’s not that much of a heavy lift 🏋 because the sensory cues are plentiful. The trick is in remembering to do it when we are stuck in our heads.

Sense foraging might be the fastest way to get out of your head and into the present. 1. Pause and sense. If you're feeling stuck in your head, pause and focus on what you see, smell, hear, or feel. 2. Shift your brain state. This quiets the default mode network (where rumination lives) and activates the sensory cortices (where awe and wonder begin). 3. Stay open. The foraging part means letting go of pre-conceived narratives and noticing whatever arises—without expectation. Simple. Instant. Effective. New pod episode out today with @NormanFarb and @zindelsegal, who break down sense foraging and their new book Better in Every Sense. Link 👇👇👇
