Let me share another hack: If you're buying a used iPhone (from 14 upwards), and it has a physical SIM tray, it's most likely been altered/converted. Starting from the 14 series, iPhones for the US market use only e-SIMs. So, it's always important to confirm which country's version you're buying. To know if the iPhone is a US version, check your model number in settings. If it ends in LL/A, then it's US. Some vendors dubiously add the physical SIM tray because that's what sells faster.
