One more post for the avoidance of any doubt.
I'm ditching Twitter because it's going down the tubes, but I ditched FB/Meta and all its properties *many* years ago for all the same reasons.
BlueSky, maybe, if it pulls its finger out and tries to be something. Mastodon it is.

@scottiebateman New Zealand’s P-8 order was 4 aircraft to replace 6 P-3s. Cost a major factor, I believe.
As for our ‘fast’ jet numbers… well the P-8 acquisition increased the number of operational jet aircraft by 200%!

There is always a fixation with fast-jet numbers but nothing happens without air mobility. Whilst the mantra may be “faster, farther, with more”… the loss of the Herc has left holes in the capability. And….Don’t get me started on the reduction of the Wedgetail order to 3. What can you do with 3 aircraft?

A very difficult read for anyone with concerns about the delivery of airpower. In the last 10 years alone the UK has slipped from 2nd to 4th largest operator of fast jets in Europe. The report has much to concern people worried about sustainability of airpower.

@stevebiddle @nashthomas Effective public transport gets cars off the road. If every eastern suburban who is only going to the city would use it, those who go further afield would find far less traffic in the way.

@nashthomas Your seem to be in complete denial about the major issue Wellington has with people in the Eastern suburbs needing to get through the city to head out of the city. It's great providing public transport but this isn't the solution for everybody.

Lots of people want to live in high quality apartments in town close to where they work so they don’t need to use a car everyday. National’s policy to scrap light rail and prioritise more urban motorways, tunnels and sprawling suburbs would make that harder and cost more. 1/

@bauhausandmies What they are doing is stepping over a line, and I just cannot understand why.
It’s times like this I think about my idea that we should somehow limit terms such that “stay in power” is not a driving force, yet have them keep accountability in the long term.

The Westland P12 Lysander (utilising the design concept of Frenchman, Maurice Henri Delanne) was a bizarre aircraft, trialled in response to the vulnerability of the Army Co-operation type in the Battle of France in 1940.
Despite its unusual layout, it flew surprisingly well.
