I dislike the analysis. The 2014 victory lap was a dead cat bounce. Schröder's labor market reforms funneled 2 million people into the economy, but the underlying problems were present. We slept through the internet/mobile/tech revolution. Only copy-cats, no real internet business in 2014. In 2013, Merkel was quoted as saying, " The internet is virgin soil." Horrible work culture, 35h work weeks, and overzealous unions. Merkel already rolled back the retirement age from 67 to 63, and she got out of nuclear, setting us up for a energy and demographic collapse. @SBetschinger Deutschland bekommt das gar nicht mehr eingefangen. Die 5.4mio Staatsdiener haben wir für immer. Die Pensionsforderungen (70% des letzten Gehalts) lassen sich nur mit weitreichenden Verfassungsänderungen kürzen (also gar nicht). Der Zug ist abgefahren 🫣🔫

Dieses Jahr wird die Staatsquote von Deutschland voraussichtlich 51 % übersteigen. Die vielen Steuergelder fließen aber nicht etwa in Infrastruktur, Bildung oder ein besseres Gesundheitssystem. Der Staat finanziert mit den üppigen Steuereinnahmen ein gewaltiges Umverteilungssystem mit 5,4 Millionen Staatsdienern im Zentrum. Digitalisierung und Automatisierung scheitern regelmäßig. Behörden und Verwaltungen werden Jahr für Jahr weiter aufgebläht. Und keine Partei kehrte diesen Trend jemals um. Vielleicht muss die Krise erst noch größer werden bis richtige Reformen angestoßen werden...
