What's the defining moment ahead of 2027 in Ibadan declaration? Every heavy weight individuals of ADC in that summit has their individual interests and they are ready to split any consensus if it goes against their individual interest. Obi is already talking tough that he's not impressed with the Ibadan talks, that a lot of things like power rotation were not touched. Seyi Makinde has come under criticism for liken the Summit with the bl00dy Operation Wettie which started from Ibadan. So, what's special in the summit? The Summit is dæd on arrival.

THE INSIDER: Why Obi was not impressed with ‘Ibadan declaration’ There was an air of cautious optimism on Saturday when opposition heavyweights gathered in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, for what many had billed as a defining moment ahead of the 2027 elections. The All Opposition Political Party Leaders summit, chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and hosted by Seyi Makinde, Oyo governor, brought together former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso (former governor of Kano), Rotimi Amaechi (former governor of Rivers), @PeterObi (former governor of Anambra), and other leaders. thecable.ng/the-insider-wh…

IBADAN DECLARATION Communiqué issued at the end of Opposition Political Parties National Summit held on Saturday April 25, 2026 in Ibadan, Oyo State. Participating Opposition Parties in Nigeria, after an extensive deliberation on the collective threats that we face and the existential challenges facing our country under the stranglehold of the oppressive and anti-democratic All Progressives Congress (APC) and given the need for urgent, collective action to rescue our nation and the destiny of over 200 million compatriots, hereby resolve as follows: 1. That we shall resist all machinations by the APC to foist a one-party State on Nigeria and fight for the survival of multi-party democracy in our country. 2. That despite the onslaughts and manoeuvrings of the ruling party, the APC to impose President Bola Tinubu as the sole Presidential candidate in 2027; we shall field candidates and contest the 2027 Presidential and other elections. 3. That we shall work towards fielding one Presidential Candidate for the 2027 elections, which shall be agreed and supported by all participating opposition parties to rescue our nation and her long suffering masses. 4. That the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, having shown bias and partisanship in favour of the ruling APC, should not conduct the 2027 general elections as Nigerians across board have lost confidence in him and his capacity to guarantee the required neutrality to deliver free, fair, transparent and credible elections. His continuous stay in office is vexatious and capable of triggering wide spread crisis in our nation. 5. That the National Assembly should immediately review the Electoral Act, 2026 to remove all sections that threaten the sanctity and integrity of the elections and run counter to constitutional provisions. 6. That all leading politicians that are being detained or harassed on bailable offfences be released with immediate effect and allowed to exercise their fundamental rights of participation and inclusivity as Nigerians. 7. That we consider the recent guidelines released by the INEC as obstacles, deliberately engineered to impose conditions and deadlines on the opposition parties. We therefore demand that INEC extends the deadline for primaries till the end of July, 2026. 8. The Summit commends Nigerians for their resilience and readiness to work with Opposition Parties to free our nation from State capture. 9. The National summit of Opposition Political Parties thank the Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde and the people of Oyo State for hosting the epochal event. SIGNED: Chairmen of Participating Opposition Parties.

@realFFK Just 48 hours ago, we witnessed an APC thug issuing threats against the ADC and Peter Obi right in front of the State Commissioner of Police. We have also seen similar incidents involving Sunday Igboho and many others. Where was your condemnation, Sir?

For those that met in Ibadan today to threaten others with "Operation Wetie" is a very dangerous gambit. Their brazen threat has been duly noted but they should consider the consequences of their words and proposed course of action before it is too late. The last time Operation Wetie happened there were no winners or losers. After the turmoil, mass murder, arson, chaos and gratutious violence that was witnessed in the SW two very bloody military coups took place in the country in which hundreds of civilians and military personnel were collectively killed. This was followed by a series of horrific pogroms in the North in which thousands were killled and finally came the civil war in which millions, including children, were killed. Do those that attended the 'Opposition Summit' in Ibadan today really want all that to happen again? Is that why they chose that occassion and that city (which is where Operation Wetie started in 1965) to issue their threat? If so they should retrace their steps because nothing beats peace. Outside of that no-one is intimidated or losing any sleep over their threat and, no matter what they do or say, only the will of the people shall stand in the 2027 elections. (FFK)

BREAKING: ADC and the Governor Makinde-backed Turaki faction of the PDP have agreed to field a single presidential candidate in the 2027 election. Factional PDP National Chairman Tanimu Turaki made the announcement on behalf of opposition parties at the National Opposition Summit in Ibadan, Oyo State. The opposition leaders also called for the resignation of INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan, saying he's not fit to conduct the 2027 general elections due to his alleged partisan support for the ruling APC.

@woye1 @NigAffairs @atiku I disagree. The zoning arrangement, it's not the North's time yet. The only candidate with a real shot at beating Tinubu is Peter Obi, and Tinubu himself knows it.

Maintaining subsidy would have added more significantly to our debt profile than now. That said, devaluation of Naira and higher interest rate occasioned by inflation has ballooned our annual debt repayment. This year’s debt repayment is N15 trillion. External debt alone is projected to be around $3.2 billion. 3 years ago , that would be around N1.4 trillion, this year due to devaluation we are spending around N5 trillion to service external debt. Recurrent expenditure is also way off the chart due to legacy debt, devaluation and the need for social safety measures. The government is trying to run an expansionary budget because that is what was needed 2 years ago. In economic down time you improve aggregate demand to stimulate the economy. This will ultimately have an effect on our debt profile. Right now I believe we need to rein in on our borrowings and run a balanced budget. Capital expenditure should be within limit while improving private participation. Bottom line is subsidy removal may have brought in more revenue but it also meant we have to spend so much more in debt servicing and recurrent expenditure in the short to mid term. Subsidy removal was never a quick solution to our fiscal problems but to lay the foundation for sustainable fiscal recovery and growth.

@idofoi Terrorism and banditry have now reached their highest levels since independence. Yet the party that took over from David Mark and his colleagues promised to end insecurity within months. It has been eight years, and the situation is only getting worse.

As Senate President — the third-highest office in the land — he watched Boko Haram reach its bloody peak for eight straight years and did nothing. Today, the same man is pointing fingers at a government that has been in power for less than three years, blaming it for the festering crisis he and his allies created and enabled for sixteen years. Shame on you, David Mark.
