@DPJHodges Would be great if the Mail did some serious investigatory journalism on this and how the message is amplified. Step towards making up for all the stoking the flames its done previously...

@DPJHodges Fully agree. But let's not lose sight of the fact that Labour just won a huge landslide on a policy of scrapping the Rwanda plan, see also labour's other immigration policies. So anti immigration isn't necessarily the 'will of the people' however much it's being portrayed as such

Again. The tensions surrounding immigration need to be addressed and tackled directly. But they need to be addressed and tackled because large numbers of law abiding British citizens have asked for them to be addressed. Not because racists torch police stations and hotels.

@danielmgmoylan @UKLabour There is nothing democratic about legislators appointed for life just because they sucked up to a political party.

Imagine a European democracy in which the first thing a new govt does is to oust a bunch of its opponents from the second chamber explicitly to fill their places with its own supporters. Russia? Hungary? No. Welcome to the brutal reality of power under @UKLabour

@JamesCleverly Tories gutted the armed services over 14 years. Time for some silence for a while?

@kateferguson4 There's surely lots under the bonnet that doesn't get published? Journalists should also be asking the Tories 'so what was your plan for prison overcrowding?' etc. before blindly publishing their criticisms of the government.

I get why Labour politicians are saying- woah, now we are in Government and have seen the books everything is MUCH worse than we feared. But why aren't journalists following up by asking the obvious question.... What is worse? Name the revelation.

@Walianohohoh @JuliaHB1 @unherd Just asking journalists to look at the original sources not a secondary report from a publisher which specialises in publishing non-traditional opinions (which I support, but the output of which need to be seen in context).

@Walianohohoh @JuliaHB1 @unherd That contradicts the list previously circulated on this thread! See eg nuclear power as an example - says its not mentioned. And it's from the Telegraph which isn't exactly renowned for its accuracy or unbiased content these days.

@claireharr @JuliaHB1 Dominant voice in a coalition does not equate to it being a hard left coalition. Those are not a list of policies we'll be seeing. Not saying it's all rosey but it's not what a lot of UK commentators are claiming it is.

@claireharr @JuliaHB1 That's not the left alliance's policies, it's the far left - a small proportion and less votes than Macron's party?

@JuliaHB1 @unherd Yes but those policies you indicated aren't in the manifesto - so maybe you need to use Google and find the source not reporting by potentially biased sources.

@JuliaHB1 @PhillipsPOBrien Please - it's just not true. Hard left got fewer votes than Macron's party. The left coalition got more - but theyre not all hard left?

@claireharr @JuliaHB1 That's not the manifesto, but more a collection of the crazier policies from some of the parties. Bit like adding together policies from a range of parties including monster raving loonies and claiming that's the policy of the bloc. It's simply not.

Farage wanting a second referendum (on electoral reform) is, I confess, one of the very few examples of his epic dishonesty & devotion to double standards that I didn't predict...

@Dannythefink Just remember that only a few weeks ago Greg Hands was still waving around a joke letter about there being no money left to to give the impression that it says something about labour. No reason for us to forget the actual damage the Tories have done with brexit and Truss.

Woke is not "being nìce". Woke is embracing a radical ideology that consistently prioritises minorities above the majority, is hostile toward truth & free speech, & seeks to deconstruct Western societies mattgoodwin.org

Thanks to everyone in Chelsea & Fulham for your inspiration and the opportunity you gave me to serve for 19 years. Being your MP has been a great honour. And to serve the country 🇬🇧 as a Government Minister for over 11 years. Congratulations & good luck to my successor.
