Duanne Thompson was my friend. We had many adventures and amazing times together. He was always there for me! The 10-8 Tour kickoff was our time together. He loved seeing everyone! He was all set to be with us in Arizona this week for the Wildlife CSI Academy. He was so excited about the wildlife crime scene training. We worked cases like the Dixie Mafia Murders, the Courthouse shooting, Moore’s Ford Bridge civil rights, 9/11, Olympic Park Bombing, numerous cold cases, and as he would say, “hunted and prosecuted killers”. We shared students too. Some of our best work was with them! He loved them. He was a tremendous teacher. As a police officer and sheriffs deputy was fearless, smart, loyal, and a decorated hero. But as a friend you could do no better. He loved my sisters, Walt, Huck and Caroline. When my father in law died the first night she was in that big old house alone Duanne parked in patrol car in her driveway and sat there all night, night after night so she was not scared. Ain’t no way to repay that!
