@bronfoth It’s my understanding that the phone would have to be no more than 3-6 feet away to potentially reconnect with the pacemaker. If you have a very specific search area, methods such as HRD teams, metal detectors, and LiDAR would be more efficient and resourceful.

@TheGeoProfiler @TheGeoProfiler Could searchers use the pre-existing connection between Nancy's pacemaker & iPhone? Devices will reconnect when in close proximity, dependent on cell coverage (can be boosted) Phone could be carried by search dog or human, monitored real-time by FBI #NancyGuthrie

Not disagreeing if you have an idea of where to look, but it also defies logic to send out HRD teams if you have no idea of where to search. They are a finite resource that are susceptible to terrain, heat, injury, and exhaustion. Search area identification and prioritization is critical with HRD teams. #NancyGuthrie
Michael Ruiz@mikerreports

Dogs are the "technology" that can help find Nancy Guthrie, according to one retired K9 officer — who says it "defies logic" not to have them out in a search pattern right now.

@conlin_lauren I would think IR would be able to discern between rock and human signatures at night, even during the day. Being in a crevasse may complicate things, but I would definitely still be trying.

Is this normal? “We couldn’t differentiate from heat signatures and the heat from the rocks.” The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office said the search for retired Air Force Gen. William Neil McCasland has been "hindered by an unseasonably warm spring"......The UFO expert vanished without a trace on February 27. facebook.com/watch/live/?re…

@jcow1969 I’ll have to give it a listen. My favourite book about Dahmer is ‘A Father’s Story’, which is not really about Jeffrey either.

When researching for this series, I listened to My Son Jeffrey: The Dahmer Family Tapes. I thought it was fascinating to hear conversations between Dahmer and his father, and I didn’t expect to come away as intrigued by his father as I was.

Thank you Jesse Weber for having me on last to talk about the critical dates regarding the Nancy Guthrie disappearance. Law Enforcement has zeroed in on January 11, 24, and 31! #crimescene #kidnapping #nancyguthrie #SavannahGuthrie

Love that. I grew up using paper maps as well, for navigating and orienteering. It’s a lost art! I also used ArcGIS in my crime analysis and crime mapping classes, but most of that work is dedicated to crime prevention. I emphasize operational mapping for investigators. No GIS needed!

@TheGeoProfiler I learned to use ArcGIS in my intel crime analysis training. Fascinating. I love this sort of thing. The irony of this whole thing was my dad taught me to use paper maps when I learned to drive. He said I had a lousy sense of direction. He was afraid I would get lost frequently.

Good question. From a behavioural perspective the east is viable, but less likely. Offenders generally look for quick and direct routes when exiting a crime. Oracle Rd (77) provides quick access to I-10 and greater Tucson. Heading east just surrounds you with additional affluent neighborhoods. Again, possible, but not probable.

@TheGeoProfiler @PodcastSTS Why is everyone assuming the perp traveled from the west side and not from the east? All roadway maps have shown traveling from the west.

This map is interesting and very similar to the optimal exit route I identified in my map below, which I explained on @PodcastSTS. The route is direct, remote, dark, and has minimal or no traffic cameras. #NancyGuthrie

Allegedly Annie Guthrie sent this map out to a neighborhood group chat & asked neighbors to check their cam footage of any suspicious activity right before & after the kidnapping. 👀 @JLRINVESTIGATES #nancyguthrie

NANCY GUTHRIE: Day 45 since Nancy Guthrie vanished. Geo-profiler Douglas MacGregor says the available clues could indicate a “repeat, pattern-based offender.” In our @LAmag interview, he explains the three possibilities investigators may be considering. In his recent NBC interview, Sheriff Nanos suggests that the offender could absolutely strike again. That’s a far leap from stopping short of reassuring the public that there is no cause for concern. To me this suggests that LE’s theory and evidence is leaning towards a repeat, pattern-based offender. The Sheriff’s warning may be based on an existing series of similar and potentially linked crimes, or it may simply suggest that LE’s theory involves a motive and suspect profile that implies a high probability of prior or repeat offending. Based on his comments and the known facts — burglary/theft, SA, homicide, or a combination thereof, would be the most likely motives. Serial abductions/kidnappings (ie Ariel Castro) are much rarer than serial murder. At face value this warning appears to reveal the direction of the investigation, narrows the list of possible motives, and indirectly suggests that certain people, motives, and theories are lower on the list of investigative priorities. Lastly, it still seems that LE is trying to determine whether this is a targeted crime. Keep in mind that a crime can be semi-targeted. For example, an offender could target elderly people, women, affluent neighbourhoods, or vacant houses while maintaining flexibility as to the exact target itself. Hopefully the Sheriff’s Office has implemented some measures to accompany the Sheriff’s comments, such as increased patrols. Remain vigilant, lookout for your neighbours, and stay safe! 🗺️ #NancyGuthrie

The individual who texted the family was caught using digital forensics and LE likely requested a keyword search warrant from Google. A keyword warrant is a type of reverse warrant, but different from a geofence warrant. I’ve heard mention of acquiring cell tower dumps related to the case, but I don’t recall any public mention of requesting geofence warrants.

YES!! Geofencing should be a primary tool for all investigators! This is what I was speaking about on @PodcastSTS this week. Different Nancy, same amazing investigative tool! #NancyGuthrie
20/20@ABC2020

Months after a California mother disappeared, investigators were still searching for answers. Detectives turned to Google geofencing data, a tool to identify which phones were near Nancy Woodrum's property the night she went missing. The search led to a surprising clue that helped detectives identify a new suspect. @WhitJohnson reports for the all-new 20/20 "The Vanishing of Nancy Woodrum" premiering tonight at 9/8c on @ABCNetwork. Stream the next day on @DisneyPlus and @hulu.

Here’s the Coles Notes regarding my thoughts on the #NancyGuthrie investigation, which I shared on @PodcastSTS tonight. I’m working off public information like everyone else and my thoughts are based on that information at this moment in time. 1/x One theory floating around is a botched nighttime robbery. Nighttime robberies are uncommon, but they do happen. Nancy’s home is more at risk for a nighttime robbery for the following reasons: - Expensive neighborhood - Quiet neighborhood - Properties set back from road - Large lots limit neighbor proximity and visibility - Properties concealed by vegetation - Darkness intentional to limit light pollution
