🚨 @USGS has found that the Appalachian region of the U.S. contains enough lithium to replace 328 YEARS of imports! Thanks to world-leading mineral science, permitting reform and renewed investment in domestic mining, @POTUS has reclaimed America's mineral independence.

China posted a 4.4% y-on-y increase in coal-fired electricity generation in March (thermal generation). The data point is the highest ever seasonal (for a March month) coal-fired power generation. China can -- and it is -- doing an enormous flex in energy markets amid the US-Iran war. Not just electricity generation, where gas plays a minor role, but crucially in its vast coal-to-chemicals sector.

The Philippines rewrote the fertility playbook. TFR has fallen from 4.1 in 1993 to under 1.7 today. That’s US-level fertility at a fraction of the income. Even more striking: at US 1910 income levels, America had 3.5 children per woman. The Philippines has less than half. Fertility collapse is now universal. Source: psa.gov.ph/content/fertil…

@JavierBlas This effectively invites China into the Gulf. After decades of US policy aimed at keeping external powers out, this hands the GCC to Beijing on a silver platter. Xi couldn’t ask for a better gift.

BREAKING: Trump on Iran: "We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts [...] The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it — The United States does not!"

MAP OF THE DAY: While the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed (other than a few tankers, notably from India), the Red Sea is witnessing the arrival of an oil tanker armada to the Saudi terminals there. (Tracking via @TheTerminal) (Blue arrows are oil tankers DWT >120,000)

Asia is much more dependent on Middle Eastern LNG (Gas) than Europe is. I’d love to know what the geopolitical considerations in India, China, and Korea are at the moment. Their growth potential is severely limited due to the war in Iran, right?

Cheap drones are changing warfare, and the United States is finally joining the party. Meet the LUCAS, a modular drone modeled loosely after Iran’s Shahed that can travel about 500 miles. They are inexpensive (costs roughly $40–45k per build), adaptable, and built for scale. Unlike Iran’s version, the U.S. can pair these with satellite networks and real-time control, meaning the drone doesn’t just wander toward a target; it can be adjusted mid-flight for six hours. That flexibility makes LUCAS less a disposable weapon and more a tactical tool for persistent pressure. The bigger question: should the U.S. revive its arsenal ship idea? Imagine a platform loaded with hundreds of these drones instead of cruise missiles. If the Pentagon wants a cheap mass-strike option, that concept suddenly looks a lot less crazy. #drone #warfare #geopolitics 📸: spektreWorks
