It casts Europeans as the spiritual and historical enemy of the Jewish people in their story based on nonsense There is no serious genealogical connection between ancient Esau/Edom and European peoples It’s a post-hoc rationalization used to turn an ancient tribal grudge into a cosmic, eternal story where Jews are Jacob (the chosen, the righteous) and Europeans are Esau (the brutish, the rejected, the one destined to serve or be defeated) This isn’t cute. It isn’t harmless theology. It is a collective revenge fantasy embedded in Jewish eschatology that predicts and justifies harm coming to “Edom” (Europeans) as part of their redemption. Accepting this label (even implicitly by not pushing back) is self-abasement. It means internalizing the role of villain in someone else’s sacred story. It means spiritual and psychological submission. No self-respecting people should accept being the villain in another group’s end-times story Accepting the Esau label is not humility.
