@MarcWatkinsEsq But the sheer amount of power needed by these AI data centers is so unfathomably high that they simply require dedicated new production infrastructure for that power, with all of the downsides that this entails. Building data centers means building more power plants too.

@MarcWatkinsEsq The benefit of the larger power grid is the ability to deal with hubs of high power consumption by compensating in many other locations over the country. It being spread out is why it works. The strain on the local environment is much harsher as you scale up for the power needed.
