Just because we can build a computer out of math doesn't mean all math is a computer.

turbine section update the nut wins for now, we are hunting down an impact suitable for the job. a mechanic who works on the new variants of this engine told us 0.03in is all u get per hit on this thing yesterday we may or may not have tried some mechanically diabolical methods to get it off lmao nothing humbles u faster than a turbine nut that has zero respect for anything in your current toolbox

I read a few dozen pages of this and it is not bad for LLM fiction, but also very very LLM-y, from the themes to the fact that there are lots of staccato conversations and meaningful silences and overwrought metaphors and very little differentiated character development.
Nous Research@NousResearch

Hermes Agent wrote a novel. "The Second Son of the House of Bells" runs 79,456 words across 19 chapters. The agent built its own pipeline to do it, using the ame modify-evaluate-keep/discard loop as @karpathy's Autoresearch but applied to fiction: world-building, chapter drafting, adversarial editing, Opus review loops, LaTeX typesetting, cover art, audiobook generation, and landing page setup. @1thWorldProblem Nope, helicals have a much higher contact ratio. This is not to say spurs can't be made strongly, especially with modified tooth geometry & large pressure angles, but again, all else equal, a helical is stronger due to more teeth being in contact with one another at once.

In case you're wondering (you're not, I realize this, but if you are, wow, thanks for being so thoughtful, you're awesome), my favorite type of gears are helicals. These were freshly cut:

@__el__toro__ wait what I was under the impression straight cut can handle way more power, at least in transmissions. helical def quieter/smoother tho.

@1thWorldProblem Depends on the requirements of the application. All things equal, the helical will be smoother, quieter, and handle more power than a spur of the same size. The spur imparts zero axial thrust & is more efficient though.

If you've followed me for any length of time you know I'm an avowed gold guy, and let me tell you, this makes perfect sense. In a margin call induced panic you sell what has a bid, not what you want to sell. It has nothing to do with the long term prospects of the asset itself.
Just a Dude Who Invests@DudeWhoInvests

Makes LITERALLY ZERO sense. GOLD the hedge for geopolitical instability is crashing in the face of geopolitical instability. Can’t make this up.
