What would ideal COVID Isolation guidance be? Once rapid antigen tests are cheap & ubiquitous 1. Isolate for first 5 days 2. Then test daily 3. Negative X 2 days? End isolation. Good to go 4. Positive? Remain in isolation until 2 negs or 10 days I think its that simple

@kfranzin @sakerrie @s_apatriot Depends on how many people get vaccinated; more vaccinated, more control of the virus, less chance of variants arising and we can get over this pandemic. It's literally the people that are refusing vaccines that are fueling the need for additional shots. Please get vaccinated 🙏

@kfranzin @sakerrie @s_apatriot From your article: "Keep current with all recommended vaccines. Vaccines prime your immune system to fight off infections before they take hold in your body." Please, please, please do all the things recommended in this article, including getting vaccinated!

@sakerrie @s_apatriot Specifically what is “getting on to of this”. And is our natural immunity defenseless against Covid. Why is there no discussion about boosting our immune system when possible. Or is that impossible?

Is the travel ban to/from South Africa really justified? Should the UK not be looking closer to home? 🤔 The continent (Europe) is surging yet we fear that which is now named! 🤨 #B11529 #NuVariant #COVID19

South Africa needs to be praised, offered whatever support is needed & acknowledged for the quality & speed of the public health & genomic science in SA, sharing the data immediately, supporting the region & the world. Not criticised, have sanctions or other restrictions imposed

I get the concern about the variant, but can we point to any instance where travel restrictions have affected the course of the pandemic in the US? In 2020 we obsessed about China travel restrictions only to have Covid enter NYC from Southern Europe

BREAKING. UK 🇬🇧 imposes Africa travel restrictions over #B11529 variant fears. This variant is the most alarming variant found since #DeltaVariant discovery. Scientists worldwide are worried. B11529 (S-gene dropout) signals spiking across South Africa. 🧵 bbc.co.uk/news/uk-594242…

I can also thank South Africa for investing time & resources in variant monitoring, despite the risk they face of being stigmatized as a “source” of variants. They find variants first because they’ve learned it’s better to confront hard truths than hide your head in the sand.
