@ElephantofLox @UziCryptoo People don't consider that personal finances are closely intertwined with emotions. It's not just math in a vacuum. They paid in the form of lower returns to lower their anxiety and stress. That's worth it to alot of people.

I understand the math, and I'm sure they did too. However, you can't put a price on your piece of mind. There is no better feeling than having your house paid off. They are under 30, there is still plenty of time to invest and build up a huge investment portfolio. Especially, since they no longer have a mortgage.

Just heard the best/worst caller on the Dave Ramsey podcast. Married couple, under 30. $145,000 household income. Came on the show to celebrate paying off the mortgage on their $450,000 Georgia home. Said they starting paying it off early 5 years ago, meaning they had a low interest rate home loan (probably <3%) and started to aggressively pay it down right as interest rates were starting to rise. Dave Ramsey loved it, launching into a lecture about how 26-year olds who say they can’t buy homes should look at this couple for inspiration. Hahaha.

I watched a toddler drop her ice cream in the parking lot yesterday. Full meltdown. Her dad didn't rush to fix it. Didn't offer solutions. He just sat down on the hot asphalt next to her and said, "That really sucks, doesn't it?" They sat there together for a full minute. She was crying. He was sad with her. Then she took his hand and said, "Can we go home now?" I've been thinking about it all day. Maybe the best thing you can offer someone isn't a solution, just your presence.

Why do some developers (especially at banks and similar) turn off paste in password fields? What are they trying to achieve? If anything, it will make people choose worse passwords because they can't be bothered to manually type good ones.
