@scott_a_ross @DanielDenvir I’ve often said I would pay money to read the transcription of the podcasts because they are so rich and detailed and demand a paper copy for the overwhelming detail

@RetroGraveProd @BackupHangman If you told peak RoH and NXT Black & Gold diehards in 2019 that they were going two free shows a week and a guaranteed banger PPV every 2 months with the feel, grit, in ring passion of the best of those shows, with a sustainable model, they would have been over the moon.

@BackupHangman AEW can't reach WWE Levels and that is perfectly fine. They are carving their own legacy in wrestling. There is enough space on the board for it. Should they "punch up" WWE during this period, they have been doing that by just producing quality wrestling program and fans notice

I thought the Tony Khan, Coachman/Russo interview was compelling. The line of questioning was fair, but one thing I do feel is that the Russo generation of wrestling people suffer from Monday Night War brain. They cannot accept the idea that being steady is still success. AEW will NEVER catch up to WWE and that’s okay, you shouldn’t do drastic and radical things in pursuit of gap closing. TNA did this and almost died. The other thing is Tony is very in tune with his audience and displayed as much when he said that they hold AEW to a high standard. He knows how Twitter gets after a weaker Dynamite. Where I do agree with Russo is that, even without going 1995 Heyman, there is an opportunity to punch up at WWE during this period where a lot of their current public facing is extremely anti-fan.

@AlmotsGraps @shino_mayo Yeah he came up right after they killed black and gold, for reference he was in the same batch of NXT as Bron Breaker, Solo Sikoa, Trick and Melo, all of whom have been called up and won titles on the main roster. I guess Jacy Jayne would fall into this same category.

@ArmyHRguy @AngletonOrchids @CIAhrtattackgun Can you even still get access to that or is it just completely inaccessible if you don't? I tried to find an archive of his stuff a year ago and it's still hard to track everything down. That series with Wendy Painting was so good

Finally reading this and awed at how subtly Bolaño develops his characters & delivers his metaphors. Like, this passage wouldn’t mean anything to a reader who doesn’t know that Cirrus clouds are named for the Latin word for hair, not the Greek word for hard.

@demsocsean @nikicaga Yeah it was hilarious, I did election results reporting in NY that night and I was laughing at the results as they came in. They imported a Cuban CNBC journalist who was a Republican in 2016 to primary AOC.

@ArmyHRguy @nikicaga there was funny commentary from the centrists come 2020 when they finally combined the cycles, because the higher turnout was supposed to hurt AOC in her primary against a well funded opponent and then 60,000+ people voted and she won by more than 50 points

As I’ve said before on this: the NY14 primary in 18 was HIGH turnout for the time. Go look at some of the totals in other NYC primaries in years prior. The machines intentionally wanted and got low turnout. Crowley’s team literally admitted the turnout exceeded their expectations
David Weigel@daveweigel

Sometimes I remember how few votes actually got cast in the NY primary that AOC won. She made many converts since then but it was the last time the establishment was truly napping and forgetting to turn out votes

@drposhlost I found this and thought you’d like a gander: havanasyndrome.tech. This place really exists and is on 34th street across from the Empire State Building.

@just_in_brown @mnolangray Yeah but that ratchets only going one way. The rental property owners have probably already started their lobbying efforts to get this applied to them too

Florida’s new tax cut will only help people on their main home. It won’t apply to rentals, vacation homes, or investment properties which is approaching 40% of all housing units in the state. California’s prop 13 applies to ALL real estate property. That’s a very very big difference in incentive structure.

@jeromesaysword @cinemageddon @WrestleTix The did all three of them in Arthur Ashe which is nearly twice as big and is closed until 2027 for renovations (which is why didn’t do it last year). Louis Armstrong court is 14K, but will presumably be less depending on stage setup (unless they go super minimalist)
