A HUGE shout-out to the @kshsaa for another outstanding week of state tournament basketball. If you're not aware, the team at KSHSAA has been working for 2+ years to consolidate two classes into one location. This modification allows more titles to be determined at a single location! And, boy, did it deliver. Kudos to KSHSAA for their forward-thinking and work to pull off these major events, to all of the student-athletes and coaches who earned the right to participate, and to the officials who were selected to work on the state's largest and brightest stages. @ksoasports @NFHS_Org @JohnDehan

@BootheBen @PaskeKSHSAA 1. The referee isn’t looking at the shooters feet at release, he’s following flight of the ball. 2. From even the slightest angle there is no way he could tell definitively if the shooters foot was over an imaginary vertical line. Probably a good no call

@PaskeKSHSAA She hasn’t crossed the line. Ball has hit the backboard. Ref isn’t looking at shooters feet.

@PaskeKSHSAA - Just to put everyone's mind at ease and assure you the official absolutely nailed this call, Rule 9-1-3-e states - "The free thrower shall not have either foot beyond the vertical plane of the edge of the free-throw line which is farther from the basket or the free-throw semicircle line until the ball touches the ring or until the free throw ends." The attached clip and screen grab show the player had broken the vertical plane. Well done, stripes, well done!

@PaskeKSHSAA The clip and screen grab clearly show that she broke the vertical plane before the ball hit the backboard.

Why do students play high school sports? To have FUN. But in today’s “high school grind” — packed schedules, pressure to win, year-round competition and social media noise — that joy can get lost. Read the NFHS Voice: nfhs.org/stories/findin… @KSHSAA @ksoasports @JohnDehan

From the epic Central-Raytown sold out match-up in 1995 to last night’s Rockhurst game against Shawnee Mission East, it is always a delight seeing Municipal Auditorium as the home for big time high school and college hoops. Glad thousands more of our kids got to see it last night

High school sports are bigger than ever—but their purpose matters more than ever. 🏫🏀 Why keeping athletics education-based puts students first, teaches life lessons, & develops the whole person—not just the athlete. nfhs.org/stories/growin… @KSHSAA @ksoasports @JohnDehan

The commitment these individuals show to the craft, their professionalism, and their service to student-athletes does not go unnoticed. Kansas continues to set the standard for high school officiating because of people like this. The imprint being left by these officials and
