JUST IN: The FDA is ending inhumane testing on beagles, chimpanzees, and other animals. This is a win for animals, a win for science, and a win for common sense. For too long, defenseless, voiceless animals have suffered in government labs while “science” was used as an excuse for animal cruelty. This is why we introduced legislation like the PAAW Act to stop the NIH from funding research causing significant pain or distress to dogs and cats. This is also why we secured victories in the NDAA stopping the DoW from conducting painful or unnecessary testing on cats, dogs, and other animals. Science has moved forward. Our policies should follow.

JUST IN: We are requesting the Department of Health and Human Services provide an update on their work to end painful and cruel animal experiments at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and bring this shameful chapter of our history to a close. The NIH claimed to be committed to doing this, last July. However, grant records uncovered the NIH awarding millions in funding to new research projects involving painful and deadly experiments on dogs and cats in the U.S. and in foreign countries throughout fiscal year 2025. We will not sit silently while helpless animals are being tortured at the expense of the American taxpayer.
