I was trained in Trini family cooking by my kids’ late granny. 🇹🇹🥰Who knows what these vegetables are called? Bonus points for the proper Indian names! 🤔

@nmgarrard My daughter is 17 and just enjoyed a week of STEM at Fotzwilliam college Cambridge - doing access to kids from comprehensives. She’s got a part time job, is driving, and is a smart young woman. She has anxiety tho - I think with the right support our young woman can be brilliant

@CSapience You’re right. I wouldn’t want to be a 17yo girl right now.

“According to DfE figures 21.9% of girls were persistently absent from secondary schools last year” They’re voting with their feet. Are schools fit for purpose? This chain-academy examination hell is not producing happy, healthy, confident young people. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Seeing videos of pupils on results day is great to see but why are staff in shirts and ties?

@Gwenelope 1975 here. I think it will all be means tested by the time I get anywhere near it. I’d love to go part time but my two teenagers are close to going to uni so big expenses coming up

@nmgarrard So part of a level is around the sketchbooks, the maquettes where appropriate, research etc - it’s like doing maths without the working out - she could easily change that for next year and enjoy the research part - is this part of course work?

@CSapience It’s portrait. I think she dived right in and maybe didn’t do so much of the pre-planning they wanted.

My daughter is giving up A-Level Art because she feels she is failing. Her Year 12 portfolio was given a D-. The 2nd painting is a self-portrait. I’m biased but I think they’re brilliant. Who here thinks she could make a living as an artist/illustrator? I’ll pass on comments!❤️

My eldest (14) is currently doing his @DofE awards, but is struggling with securing a volunteering role in the community as many organisations cannot accommodate a person under 16 working on the premises. Any ideas from my followers, or wider audience would be welcome… north Manchester area…
