Everything that made Bryan Johnson famous, he has quietly stopped doing. Start with the young blood. In 2023 he had a litre of his teenage son's plasma pumped into his veins, a three-generation arrangement with the boy at one end and his father at the other. That was the story that built the legend: the tech millionaire buying youth by the pint from his own child. Then the results came back. No benefit. He dropped it, and most of the people who gasped at the headline never heard the ending. Before the plasma it was growth hormone, taken to regrow his shrinking thymus, stopped once it started raising the pressure inside his skull and pushing his blood sugar up. Reversed. Then rapamycin, the pet drug of every longevity podcast going, the one he bragged he ran on the most aggressive protocol in the industry. Five years on it. In 2024 he binned that too, having decided it was doing him more harm than good. Count the pills while you are here. He was the man who swallowed over a hundred supplements a day. He is down to about thirty, which is a polite way of saying more than seventy of the things he swore by turned out to be doing nothing worth keeping. This is the man handed to you as the template. The one who ran the experiment so you would not have to. So look at what the experiment keeps returning. A protocol adopted with total public confidence, branded, monetised, sold by subscription, then walked back a year later when his own body lodges a complaint. That is a beta test running in public at two million a year, not a guide standing on the summit waving you up. Everything on his list today is a candidate for next year's pile of abandoned certainties. There is a way of not dying that survives contact with time. No plasma, no thymus experiments, no wonder drug you have to walk back, no pharmacy on the kitchen counter. It is roughly what people ate before there was a supplement aisle to panic into, back when they lived long enough to bury the experts who warned them off butter. It will not photograph well and it cannot sell you a monthly box, which is the only reason the most measured man alive paid two million a year to arrive, one reversal at a time, at a plate of food his own grandmother would have recognised.

Tattoos used to be confined to men in the military and prison. Now they’re everywhere. They don’t look good on women - and they look worse as they age. But a lot of gals did it because they were conformists. So much so that a lot of the gals with tats are probably ok.
Justin Murphy@jmrphy

The currently fashionable male view of tattoos on women is a hysterical herd phenomenon, which pretends to be some kind of sophisticated anthropological "red pill"—except it's obviously wrong. The meme says "tattoo = red flag" and "no tattoo has ever made a woman more beautiful." These two observations are contradictory. What none of the Men Against Female Tattoos ever acknowledge is: Red Flags are Hot. Red flags are not predictors of stability, faithfulness, or sustainable compounding of value, but not all the attractions of human life are perfectly correlated with the preferences of uptight Anglo shopkeepers. The most sexually attractive traits are correlated with a propensity toward self-destruction: risk, recklessness, and self-endangerment, even to the point of death. Read Freud, Bataille, or even within evo-psych just look at Life History Theory. Self-destruction has always been one of the sexiest things in the world—and for good reasons, even if it cuts against long-term stability. It may be true that one tattoo rarely makes a woman more beautiful (in part because one tattoo has little signal either way), but what this popular refrain ignores is the following inconvenient fact: Many tattoos can make a woman far more attractive. If you've ever been to a bar at night (many of these men have not), the hottest woman there (according to the actual felt sense of lust averaged across all the men), will ALWAYS be the wild-looking, heavily tattooed baddie over the pristine girl in a sundress, assuming other traits are equal. If any of these anti-tattoo men were approached by one of these women below, in a bar past 11pm, they would simply wet their pants. They would not be able to handle it, and they've never had the opportunity, either. And I think they know that this is true, which is why they hysterically project against any woman with ANY SINGLE tattoo, with this weirdly intellectualized gloss that folds if you even poke it for a second. Men who love to talk about their zero-tolerance policy for tattoos on women are often just boring, fearful, cowardly men who know nothing of romance, love, sex, or death. All they care about is securing a loyal safe obedient slave who is guaranteed to never put their long-term value accretion at risk. This is also why many of them never get married at all, or stay perpetually divorced; and the ones who are married are often just uptight bores and petty tyrants over boring, lame little households. Can we also talk about how this anti-tattoo hysteria is itself a kind of inverted woke feminism—it's so prissy, so fixated on "trauma" (which is probably not real, and a left-wing bludgeon), etc. Sorry bros but the theory presented here is far more consistent with the data. It's OK to have your own preferences; you don't have to dress them up as profound social theories, which conveniently also frame yourself as a good person, and women you could never get as bad people!

Spotted a woman inside Trader Joe’s wearing a mask. Stepped outside to load my groceries and there she was, mask on in 100° weather with nobody else around. At this point, it has to be a mental illness, would you agree?

I bring home a trapped coyote and let it loose in the kitchen. Hackles up. Teeth bared. Pissing on the floor. My wife says, "Get it out." I tell her that is a very unwelcoming and unchristian way to speak about a future house pet. The children back into the hallway. I tell them it's a rescue. I tell them fences are fear. I tell them cages are barbaric. I tell them the old rules were cruel. I tell them it will domesticate in time. Then I grab my lunchbox and leave them to live with my principles. When I get home, there is blood on the floor, and the experts who sold me on compassion are already explaining why nobody could have seen this coming. Anyway, that's Western migration policy.

The most metabolically ill country on Earth has a control group living right inside it, and the results are deeply inconvenient. The Amish eat butter, lard, eggs, meat, and raw milk straight from their own cows, by the bucket. They cook in animal fat. They eat the saturated fat the rest of us were told to fear for fifty years. Their obesity rate sits around 4%. The country around them is closing on 40%, four in ten adults. Ten times lower, on the diet that was supposed to be killing them. They are not dropping from heart attacks at the rate the theory demands either. Their overall cancer rates run lower than the surrounding American population, despite skipping most of the screening that is meant to be saving everyone else. Now, honesty, because it matters. The Amish are not low-carb. There are pies and bread and plenty of sugar on an Amish table. This is no clean carnivore case, and I will not pretend it is. What it is, is a controlled experiment sitting in plain sight across Pennsylvania and Ohio. Same country. Same supermarkets down the road. The Amish simply opt out of two things: the ultra-processed food and the sitting still. Their men walk upward of 18,000 steps a day. They eat food their grandmothers would recognise, and they move like their lives depend on it, because for most of history they did. The animal fat was never what made America sick. The seed oil, the sugar, the packet, and the sofa did that, and the Amish skipped all four. They ran the experiment by accident, by living in the same country as everyone else and politely declining to join in.
