@TwoMinuteDrill3 @ChipSeagle Bingo, our lighter OL end up at center and do a wonderful job for us. If you don't have large prototypical kids, WZ is great. Our undersized kids may have trouble displacing on GAP/IZ/DUO, but they can reach the shit out of a kid who outweighs them by 75 lbs.

@ChipSeagle Most successful offenses in football: 49ers, Seahawks, Rams are all based into heavy WZ run game. Also, buck sweep requires lineman who can run/pull. No different from the clip than you’re showing. You need certain personnel to do certain things.

When people ask me why I prefer Buck to Wide Zone or Stretch, here’s what I should show them as I say, "I have coached football for over 40 years, watched 1,000s of hours of game film, and I have never coached or coached against a Center that could do this." Down blocks are easier to teach and execute. Now, if you have one of these, by all means, carry on.

The weight room is the most influential room in a school. It’s not a place to hang out — it’s a classroom. A place where habits are built, standards are set, and character is developed.

The 2025 Chicago Bears Complete Offensive Manual is now available! This is my proudest work. It is the most detailed and expansive breakdown of an NFL offense you will find. The amount of nuance and variety in Ben Johnson’s offense forced the page count up to 514, making it my most comprehensive book by large margin. Get your copy today! amazon.com/dp/B0GHWZRJLT?…

Like many others, been saying it for years. Anyone who discourages your child from playing multiple sports does not have your child’s best interests in mind. Period.

Early specialization is overrated. Generalists excel over time. Data on >34k stars in sports, music, science, and chess: Focusing on a single field predicts a faster rise, but cross-training foreshadows a higher peak. The most successful adults start off as well-rounded kids.

@CoachSCDub Also, most mid zone teams in my opinion coach that PST to aim short and torque the DE out — that frontside side block has no intention of ever reaching the DE. Sometimes the back aiming points are the same but the OL aiming points and intention are different.

@CoachSCDub IZ under center always aimed frontside B, spread offense morphed it into A to A, so they started calling frontside B mid zone. At least my two cents anyway. Wide is wide.

It seems like every resource on the internet about Mid-Zone has the RB tracking the Outside Leg of the PST or the Butt of the TE, based on that, then where the hell is the aiming point for Wide-Zone? Also happy thanksgiving everyone, whether we havent interacted yet, or i constantly bug you with scheme and technique questions, super grateful.

Thankful for our entire football family here at North, past, present, and future. Last night the Class of 2025 players and parents surprised the Stanley family with some very special gifts. The bonds we forge through football go far beyond the game and last a lifetime.

@riplizmatch They bastardized under center inside zone by calling side car gun inside zone. Now mid zone from side car is just inside zone from under center. I might be dumb but this is the best I got.
