This morning, the Governor and GH staff popped into the museum’s MacMillan Coffee Morning. Thank you @FIMuseum for an excellent morning of delicious treats made by the #Falklands community.

On Wednesday the Museum staff and the late Garry Tyrrell received the King's Coronation Medal for services to the community. When we took on the task of organising these events we did not expect to receive such recognition but we are grateful to be recipients of this medal.🎖️

On this day in 1982, British forces attacked Argentine positions at Mount Tumbledown and Wireless Ridge with the loss of 13 lives. Some of the final actions before the liberation of the Falkland Islands, we remember all those who served and lost their lives. 🇫🇰🇬🇧 #Falklands42

8/ Falkland Islanders were very keen to support the allied efforts and donated over £50,000 (almost £3 million today) for the purchase of 10 spitfires for the Royal Air Force. You can see one of the Falklands purchased spitfires in the photograph below. #DDay80

7/ The people of the Falkland Islands proudly served and supported the Allies during the Second World War. From a population of just 2,300, more than 150 Falkland Islanders volunteered for service in the War, however 24 Islanders were killed in the fighting. #DDay80
