I’ll just say it: Pikachu SIR is overpriced and extremely risky. Find out why:

@Will__Stern I just wrote about the return of collecting as a major cultural trend: tcgbuyersclub.com/p/the-40-year-… I believe strongly in the cyclicality of collectibles. And the cycle applies all the way to the popularity of collecting in general 👌

Based purely on my own experience, more people have a passing knowledge/interest in collectibles than any time in the past six years I've worked in the industry. Now more than ever, friends of friends are reaching out for advice on cards or comics, referencing major sales, etc.

In June 2024, Japanese 151 boxes crashed from $215 to $65 - a devastating 70% crash. Today, those same boxes are selling for $244. In 2024, the market reacted to reprints, not quality. Bold collectors took action. I’m going live to break it all down, tonight at 7:30 PM EDT 👇

@1Password The marketing team that created this video is gonna be in trouble 😬 This is NOT AI being added to the 1Password. Instead, AI agents are getting 1Password. It’s a credential management layer for autonomous agents acting on your behalf. This is a great idea.

Today we’re introducing 1Password® Unified Access. As AI agents start operating inside real production environments, organizations need visibility into how credentials and access are actually used. Unified Access helps security teams discover, secure, and audit access across humans, machines, and AI agents. 🔗 More here: bit.ly/4dq2pjO

The problem with breaking apps is the same one with sports gambling apps: They play on consumer’s dopamine receptors to maximize retention and minimize churn. It lowers the barrier (geographically & psychologically) to addiction. People can lose their house from their couch.

@Will__Stern Really interesting stuff happening in the market! I love hearing your takes on collectibles categories outside of TCG (which is what I understand the best). I’m learning a lot 🙇‍♂️

A couple thoughts on the excitement and splashy prices surrounding the Irsay auction last night: - Cultural memorabilia (esp. top tier) will always lead the pack in collectibles as it naturally appeals to the greatest audience - So many HNWI come out of the woodwork for these types of pieces who otherwise would not be classified as "collectors - The live nature of a trad Christie's auction is absolutely the appropriate medium for this time of event — if this were online only I'm not sure we see anything close to the level of bidding competition - Concerns over a single-owner sale like this harming prices due to a supply shock are overblown

Hot take: Pokemon cards will become the World Reserve currency. Both Pokemon cards and money are made of paper. One is printed by governments that are trillions in debt. At some point the world is going to realize the truth: Pokemon cards are worth more than any currency

@PokeHEX5555 Shadowless is interesting: it tends to be rarer, but that rarity hasn’t translated into the level of historical significance of 1st Edition base set cards. Proof that being first matters more than rarity alone? 🤔

AI is making it easier than ever to clone software. Ironically, that makes real platforms like ours even more valuable. Real people and community. Rich and expansive data. Product intuition and experience. Anyone can build a clone but almost none survive the long run.
