@jchybow @OverlyTrev This seems disingenuous, which isn’t like you. Countless promises from Elon saying you can sleep on AP by X year, or summon across the country, etc Fewer but still existing timelines by Tesla itself on the order page of FSD

I’m just going to say the hard truth. Some of the Tesla community is being EXTREMELY UNGRATEFUL! Tesla has been working their ass off on a huge update with reasoning in V14.3, and most people don’t even have it yet and already complaining! People are saying things like: -Sorry Tesla and Elon, it’s just not good enough. -We were supposed to be getting all this with V14.3! -Elon moving the goalpost. Give them a damn break. We literally can get in our cars and with a push of a button it takes us wherever we want to go. Tesla will NEVER stop innovating. There will be a FSD 15,16,17,18,19,20… forever. There will be an AI5,AI6,AI7,AI8… Why are we mad at them for committing to updating our cars? They literally have unsupervised cars operating in Austin but it’s only 9 right now, so I guess that just means nothing and isn’t good enough either. BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE AND LOOK FORWARD TO WHAT IS COMING!
mr fundman@mrfundman

Sounds like moving goal post, FSD 14.3 was supposed to be all that, no? Now we wait for v15 .. by end of year.. ?

@WilliamShatner The average Tesla owner spends less time per year waiting at a charger than a gas car owner spends waiting to pump gas.

@Matthew52060772 @JarrodRodrigue1 @Aussiephil2 The good thing is the majority of people never need that flexibility, they just drive to work and back with the occasional road trip. People aren’t normally setting land speed records.

@JarrodRodrigue1 @Aussiephil2 Yeah, 500 max miles when empty. They're only good for the yard and short halls. I like Tesla but electric doesn't match gas for flexibility, range and cold weather use.

Just hit 100k miles on my Tesla today. Still runs like new. Completely paid off, and the house has solar, so I basically drive for free. (Only maintenance is replacing the tires.) Y’all still paying for gas? 🤭

@TesCalendar1 @jacecraftmiller @DavidMoss Putting aside the strategies you can use to not rely solely on REX power, even when we don’t know how much power it would make… How much range do you get on a normally BEV when the battery reaches 0?

@HelperTesla @jacecraftmiller @DavidMoss You’re missing the fact that unless you have a huge engine (which Scout is not planning on doing), this is ONLY an extender. It won’t have enough power to keep up with highway speeds. Do you’ll have to charge AND fuel up. That’s not more flexibility, that’s handcuffs.

@TesCalendar1 @jacecraftmiller @DavidMoss Yes it’s a range extender, but how is it harder to fuel if it’s just a 350 mi EV with more flexibility? By definition it would be easier to fuel I do agree customers overestimate needs, & most may not need it, but the rational behind the want is obvious: more fueling flexibility

Remind Cybertruck what reservations mean again, please? I genuinely don’t believe people have any idea what they are giving up just to have a moped engine. And as Martin has said on your pod many times, you need a big engine to keep up. So it’s a range extender. You will run out of both gas and charge and be screwed. Makes no sense. Now go fill up both? Lolol. Not to mention Americans addiction to Dino juice is just getting out of control at this point. Current conflicts extenuate this and people are too crazy to see the light of day. I maintain. If you MUST have the range and quick fill ups, get a gas or diesel. If you want electric, but electric. This middle ground isn’t it. Why do you think this got delayed AGAIN?

The cost of giving all FSD owners who bought in full the ability to transfer to a new car forever would be around $1 billion+ a year in ARR. 800,000 purchases * $99 a month = $950 million a year Current total FSD subscription revenue: $392 million ARR

People in the comments seem to think that firm means non-negotiable and that is absolutely not the case. Firm means I have decided the value but the consideration (payment) for that value is negotiable - for example, if I have a car listed as $7500 firm and you offer me $7000 and buying it today, that's a reasonable offer as the $500 is being replaced won't expediency and reduced BS and uncertainty. Many people here have clearly never bought or sold used cars private party. Everything is negotiable.

@rstreets01 @TesCalendar1 My response is not even saying that Tesla owners don’t care, but that criticizing a 3 row family SUV for 0-60 is pointless. Most buyers don’t care about that for their daily drivers, and so Toyota prioritizes accordingly. Making what people want to buy is a good business choice.

Yeah but going back to the original subject which was Tesla fans criticizing Toyota’s slow 0 to 60 still comes down to the fact that most Tesla fans and Tesla owners do care about the 0 to 60 time which is why they’re criticizing it. Toyota buyers might not but those of us who own Tesla’s usually do IMO.

It’s insane to me how many Tesla fans are bashing on Toyota for their “lack of horsepower (338)” in the new Highlander but are defending slow DCFC. What matters more? Potentially adding hours to a road trip of being able to get a speeding ticket easier? 🤦🏼‍♂️ I love going fast too but 0-60 in ~6s is PLENTY fast and still beats 90% of ICE vehicles on the road.

@rstreets01 @TesCalendar1 Bingo. Case in point: 0-60 isn’t in that list, since that’s not something Toyota has ever been great at. And thats my point — most buyers don’t need or care about that, which is why Toyota continues to increase sales numbers even though Tesla products are good and get better.

Well, one of the things that I love and most Tesla owners love is the minimalist interior but a lot of people don’t like that. They want gauges and buttons everywhere. Plus, they’re still lots of people that don’t want EV and being that Toyota has barely even starting to sell EV’s, the bulk of the cars they sell are still ICE vehicles and that’s what people are used to. EV’s are still a tiny percentage of the total market.

@rstreets01 @TesCalendar1 I absolutely agree that Tesla has a superior product too! But for Tesla to start stealing customers of legacy brands, they need to offer the selling points that people look for in those same legacy brands… and it’s clearly not 0-60.

@HelperTesla @TesCalendar1 While acceleration is important to me, that’s only one factor in a multitude of reasons to buy a Tesla and you know that already. It’s a superior product all around and I don’t need to list all the reason reasons because I think you already know that.

@rstreets01 @TesCalendar1 I’m only stating facts. Clearly Toyota is doing something right. They make cars way slower than Teslas, but they outsell Tesla many times over. Toyota has grown sales over last 3 years, and Tesla has slowed. Let’s not pretend like 0-60 is a primary focus of most buyers.

@rstreets01 @TesCalendar1 Yes, not everyone buying base trims, but that’s true of both. Toyota has SUVs that START at higher than the Model Y performance. And all of which are very slow by comparison. Acceleration isn’t the main reason most people buy cars, otherwise Toyota wouldn’t sell anything

@HelperTesla @TesCalendar1 Like I said, nobody’s buying the cheap standard model Y or the cheap standard model Y. They’re buying more expensive Teslas which are all priced higher than the cheapest Toyotas and far superior. People buy Toyotas because they don’t know any better.

@rstreets01 @TesCalendar1 Again, Toyota makes slower AND more expensive cars. But they outsell tesla MANY times over. Speed/Acceleration isn’t at the top of the list of reasons most people buy their cars, even if it it is for you.

@rstreets01 @TesCalendar1 The average Toyota sells for higher than the starting price of the 3 or Y, and that’s before accounting for gas or maintenance savings. It’s quite literally the opposite — Many people are paying MORE for Toyotas, and more people are buying Toyota than Tesla.

@rstreets01 @TesCalendar1 I brought it up to say Tesla wouldn’t make a slow car if being quick was a requirement for buyers. I too think Tesla has a superior product, but then why do more ppl buy Toyotas, even when Toyotas are more expensive AND slower?

First you tried to defend the slow Toyota by saying that the cheapest model Y is even slower and people that buy it don’t think it’s slow. Then I showed you that that’s bullshit and that’s not the car the people are buying so then your next reaction was essentially “well nobody cares about the 0 to 60 time” That’s moving the goal post, their buddy. People that buy Teslas would never buy Toyotas because they’re a joke, they suck, and they don’t drive themselves. People to buy Toyotas are morons that don’t know any better and they don’t care about getting true value for their money. Teslas are far superior but they’re more expensive so brokies can’t buy them…😂

@rstreets01 @TesCalendar1 lol where? The goal post is the same as it started — better acceleration for every-day cars doesn’t mean more sales. Toyota outsells Tesla with far slower cars. This is a fact. If acceleration determines sales numbers, then by your logic Tesla should make slower cars 😂
