This isn't about holding a parade - this is about acknowledging both your individual processes of learning and (for me) the fact that you share this publicly as a chance for us all to reflect on how we internalise social discourses and how we might change for the better.

I said something racist my first time to Aotearoa years ago that I didn't realise was racist at the time -- someone was trying to teach me how to say kererū and I said it was too hard so I would just use "wood pigeon".
