You cannot buy a new gas turbine until 2030. Order books at GE, Siemens, and Mitsubishi stretch to 2029. Turbine prices have nearly tripled since 2019. Every AI data center needs power and every gas plant needs a turbine. And every turbine has one part that bottlenecks the entire industry: The blade. It has to survive in gas 500°C above the melting point of the metal it's made from and spin at up to 20,000 RPM under 10,000 g of centrifugal force. Each blade is grown as a single crystal of nickel superalloy, pulled through a vacuum furnace at 3 mm per minute. A set of blades costs $600,000 and takes 90 weeks to grow. The same metallurgy powers modern jet engines. Only 3 companies on Earth can build one. China spent $42 billion trying to catch up. They bought a Russian fighter engine, took it apart, and copied every part. Their copy ran 30 hours between overhauls versus 400 for the original. Modern Western engines run 4,000. You can reverse engineer the shape of a turbine blade. You cannot reverse engineer 60 years of metallurgy.

How much FCF as % of the mcap/EV does an oil company need to make in the next 20 months to avoid being a value trap? I am thinking oil market could get pretty bad in 2028. What will happen if they don't do a very good Q2/Q3 NPAT vs. Mcap? P/E~3 on current strip is max for me.

Chicago #wheat futures have surged to their highest level in nearly two years, trading above USD 6.6 per bushel and lifting the year-to-date gain for the prompt contract to 29%, as drought across key US growing regions pressures yields at a time when soaring fertilizer costs have prompted farmers to plant the fewest acres of wheat in more than a century. Meanwhile, Kansas HRW wheat trades above USD 7 per bushel, up 37% year-to-date, as drought stress points to lower yields. The latest weekly crop condition report showed the share of the unharvested crop rated good or excellent staying at 30%, the worst for this time of year since 2023.

@Henrik115 I would be hesitant to expect them to get back to their 22 highs though….at least the names in the UK.

@oilgastourist Prediction…they won’t reach their 22 high because the market expects the UK gov to steal the profits like they did the last time. “Fool me once…”

Quick comparison between UK mid-size producers, which one would you choose? Serica and Enquest still are very far from their 2022 highs. #SQZ #ENQ #ITH

@ShaleTier7 @StirlingSutton Let me try…if the goal is to sell the company to either PE or another company…and retail pushes the stock to the point that the EV significantly exceeds a reasonable mid cycle multiple for the assets as they stand today…then you aren’t going to reach your goal. Pretty simple?
