SEO agencies are DEAD. I fired my $50k/mo agency and asked Claude to do it. Instead of my agency executing on content, building links, and driving pipeline, I now get: • 40-page audits • 145 keyword clusters • 19 AI-generated slop roadmaps • Do all the work myself instead of running the actual business Revenue is down 87% but the charts look incredible.

The number of people already protesting AI content in their feeds, across multiple apps, is alarming (for anyone betting on AI). But it’s zero percent surprising. I guess I expected this to take a bit longer, but it already feels like sentiment is shifting quickly.

@TomFrankly Interestingly, I found that neurodivergent people (ADHD/spectrum) prefer them. I myself use them a lot in PKM - they make me "read with a glance" - like for apps on the phone I look for LOGO not TEXT.

I've noticed that when I see a lot of formatted text with emoji, getting my brain to actually read it is like pulling teeth. I just automatically assume it's LLM text, and it feels lower-value. I assume the writer didn't put much effort or attention into creating it.

@KevinEspiritu 12-18 months from now, I'm hoping there's a release window for a book with your detailed illustrations and guides to various types of plants and crops. Would buy in a heartbeat. My kids have been gardening as part of homeschooling and I know they'd love it.

@JoshCreatesCopy I can see how this might work in a man's mind, but in no universe do I want to touch a tampon that a gas station employee has touched the wrapper of, tbh

@DavidGQuaid @rustybrick So the initial tweet didn't specify rank. You're right - it's not gonna change the rank, I was specifically talking about CTR from the SERPs.

@JoshCreatesCopy @rustybrick So - I'm going to try once because its an either you get it or you dont: For descriptions to change rank: it must rank - or it doesnt get seen. Thats all I have to say on this - its a circular reference

@Shpigford I remember and it was awful. The fact that I can sneeze away $14 and get Squarespace to go "IT'S LIVE. SSL IS LIVE. IT'S BEEN 7 SECONDS. YOU'RE WELCOME." is pretty epic.

@ApartmentsChick Makes no sense. I only have four team members, but I was hyper-critical of the hiring process. People will value the hire, but put 3% of the time that they should be into the actual hiring process.

That's why I don't get it why use a staffing agency for basic roles in the first place. What's the value add? Is it worth $12-18K per hire? Just hire direct - it's already half the price you'd pay through an intermediary and those people want to actually work, not find "someone cheaper" to do work for them - plus, it won't even be possible because you pay fair market price in that market. Today I interviewed an American guy living in Buenos Aires with tons of customer service experience who just moved to Argentina. Bingo!

VA we placed almost cost a client $100k last week. She interviewed like a superstar. First week? Crushing it. Then she secretly outsourced her work to someone cheaper and pocketed the difference. Here's how we handled the disaster 👇

I do marketing for 11 roofing companies. Zero of them are on BBB. Also, while we're on the subject, none of them pay directories for backlinks. Sign up for enough directories, and their sales departments are gonna reach out to you a million times. Just focus on getting as many citations as possible, you don't need BBB accreditation.

@TomFrankly I'm so fortunate that even though my ADHD is fuckin' bad with games and YouTube videos, I despise using smartphones. My buddy watches like 90 minutes of TikTok before he even gets out of bed in the morning. I don't know how.

This one stupid tracked habit has completely stopped my doomscrolling. I’d only ever do it in the morning, not wanting to get out of bed right away. Problem solved, mental health vastly improved.

If you book a meeting with me, don't show up, and don't send an email before or after giving an(y) explanation, I likely won't have a meeting with you ever again. Is this too strong a stance?

I lost $101,694 in the last six months, and I want you to help me lose more. Not clickbait. Not a typical attention-grabbing thread. I'm not fuckin' about. Here's what's up: Unsurprisingly, American small businesses are struggling right now. It's pretty bad out there. And I have a bleeding heart. I do marketing specifically for American small businesses, but since February, it's not the business owners reaching out for help. It's their children. Tons of my recent conversations have been with first-generation kids in their mid to late twenties, and they're trying to help their parents' business. I keep seeing the same thing: - 55yo+ business owners - Steadily declining revenue - A failure to adapt to the way my generation (millennials) and zoomers find new stores, services, and products And I've just hit the ground running. Setting up their email flows. Establishing social media. And most importantly, getting their local SEO down pat. All for free. - They keep waiting for the other shoe to drop - I help, get them going (as much as I can), and teach them how to keep it moving - Then I walk away, zero upsells, no reviews, no referrals, just assistance My accountant wants to fill my asshole with live scorpions because I'm digging into my profit margins by doing this. But I... don't want to stop. I've given out free help with marketing to a couple dozen small businesses just this year alone, and I want your help to do it more. If you know any small business owners, mom-and-pop style shop owners, one-man armies running a service business, or what-have-you, send them my way and I'll help them however I can at no cost. (If you're a business owner and you don't need this, I mean really need it, keep the spots open for people who do.) Marketing is often soulless and shitty, which is why I started Clarify and operate it the way I do, so help me make a difference and do some good.
