The most points I've seen a boys player score happened 42 years ago. Michael Williams (who played 11 years in the Association, BTW) scored 63 in South Oak Cliff's 97-84 loss to Conroe in the 1984 5A regionals. No 3-point shot back then, either. Williams had 11 3-point plays.

I very nearly got to work in the booth with Gary. However CBS & I amicably divorced before that could happen. I may always wonder what that might have been like. I know this, he and Vern and later @brad_nesslerCBS were phenomenal together. Ness & Gary had been together before when I Hosted @espn as well so they had great chemistry. Those years with Vern when the @SEConCBS took off @SpenceTillman & I were having a blast every week working with them from our venue. There was tremendous respect between us all and I’ll treasure those days forever. His wife once constructed a “Fly in the ointment” he once presented me to take home to my office. Gary was for a long time the BEST at his craft. He also handled his critics with aplomb. Congratulations on a HOF career!
