A blank page is the real reason most people quit journaling. Prompts help, but most of them are so generic they make writing feel like homework.

Working on a small change to the lock screen today. The unlock button needs to be slightly less obvious than the write entry button. Subtle nudge in the right direction.

@superior_hombre 31 sneaks up on you. The habit apps are usually the ones you told yourself served a purpose six months ago, so deleting them feels like admitting you've been bored the whole time.

29. Charge your phone outside your bedroom every single night. 30. Go fully offline for one hour every single evening this month. 31. Delete every app you open out of habit and not out of purpose. 32. Set a screen time limit on your most used app starting today.

@GrowthWarrior1 The habit vs purpose one is the trickiest. The list is almost always shorter than people expect once they start actually writing it down.

@elmihiro @sreemoytalukdar The set times is the part that actually sticks. Blocking apps with no window usually just ends with the blocker getting uninstalled.

@sreemoytalukdar Get better, man. Best thing I did was install an app blocker on my phone. No social media except at specific times in the day.

Recuperating from a bad case of gout. The flare is still painful, but I've gained at least some mobility. Tried to catch up on some reading. So many books shortlisted. Frightening, how social media has destroyed my ability to focus. Need to re-learn my reading habit. To think I finished Tin Drum in 3 days during my Master's!

@nonregemesse @ChrisStets124 A jigsaw puzzle left out on the table works better than it sounds. Hands stay busy and there's no real reason to reach for the phone.

@juhoonah The last stretch of scrolling before bed never adds anything anyway. Good call calling it, sleep well.

@matchawinters @reddingsbf A book you actually want to read beats one you think you should. Otherwise, the phone always finds you by page ten.

@candyysprkl Half past midnight is when the cat clips really start working. The kicking feet is just the body catching up to what the brain already knew.

@noblefavour001 The block only helps if undoing it is a hassle. The default app timer is one settings tap from being switched off, so the real test is whether you'll actually go dig for that toggle at 11pm.

3. Build a "Zero-Friction" Environment If you have to fight your environment to start working, you’ve already lost. Block distracting apps, clear your physical desk, and leave your code editor open to the exact file you need to work on the night before.

You aren't suffering from a lack of talent. You're suffering from a lack of emotional control. If you want to transition from motivation-driven failure to system-driven execution, here are 5 brutal rules to build unshakeable consistency:👇

@sspaeti Daily entries pile up fast and nobody goes back to read entry 47 from march. Topic notes are the only way the writing actually gets used.

Whenever I want to journal, I put it directly in the most related topic. When I read through them, I have the complete history on a particular topic. Instead of daily notes spread around that you never revisit.

Daily notes as a thinking practice, not a todo list. Instead of traditional daily notes, I use "Thoughts On" notes. Topic-based journals that accumulate depth over time ssp.sh/brain/how-i-wr…

@Beesklaum_ @crowinore The good edit is what keeps the whole habit going. Without those little wins, the scroll would have stopped on its own a long time ago.

@r0tt3nt33th Wanting to stop is the opposite of stupid, that's the part of you still paying attention. The doomscroll tends to be the thing that made you feel bad in the first place.

@SVRaaymakers Going from set aside to a full shut down is the bigger change. A silent phone on the table is still pulling at you the whole evening but good plan!

@KevinBuildsApps I've started a new habit: As soon as I get home, the phone goes off. Not just set aside, but completely shut down. It's helped me focus on family instead of the internet 👍

@PDuzzman1644 2 hours of morning scroll before getting up is a long first thing. The phone was probably in your hand the whole time and the bed never had a chance to cool off.

@ra7litsah Opening the work file first is half the trick. Once the task is already on screen, going back to the phone feels like a detour instead of the default.

@4dr1md The show just becomes background noise at that point. Your thumb is the one getting all the actual attention, and you're not really watching either.
