You cannot go anyhwere in the US anymore without feeling taking advantage of. Every restaurant, every lease agreement, every purchase. Everything is so blatantly predatory. Like they don't even care to be subtle about the fact that they're operating in bad faith. And we're all just submissive to it

@geerlingguy No scroll wheel but I’m loving the iPod nano 7th gen I picked up. It’s absolutely tiny but has a great UI, pairs with Bluetooth headphones, has an FM tuner, and is my new “going for a phone free walk” machine.

My dad laughed when I began collecting vinyl records 20 years ago. He didn’t understand why I wanted an inferior, expensive, dated media format—one he was glad to have ditched. Now I’m that way seeing kids using old iPods. Makes no sense. They’re worse than phones in every way.

@mnolangray Came to this realization a while ago when trying to go bowling and realizing the business model of all bowling alleys in the city is now expensive corporate events booked weeks in advance.

An underrated addendum to the Bowling Alone story is that North America's largest bowling operator (Bowlero) is a publicly traded company whose business model involves buying local alleys, shutting down the leagues, and trying to attract casual, higher paying, one-off players.
