As many of you know, today has been awful at Sports Illustrated. Many people who do great work lost their jobs. Others, like myself, remain employed but aren't guaranteed employment past the next 90 days. What happens past that is very uncertain. This is a brutal business. It's ugly. Days like this are hideous and yet predictable. Everyone in this game knows the unfortunate reality. Ultimately, being published in a magazine representative of everything great in sports journalism has been an incredible thrill. It was a lifetime ambition fulfilled, and I'm forever grateful in that regard. Hopefully, the licensing situation is resolved and there are many more bylines ahead. However, both the future of the SI brand, and my situation, are very much unknown. As always, thank you for reading. I wonder how Trump is going to fight the 63 Republicans who refused his order to not impeach Ken Paxton? The Texas House Republicans just gave the GOP a big gift. They proved they no longer have to give a damn about what Trump demands. The Texas House showed the rest of the party that what Trump thinks does not matter. If the the GOP has any sense (and that is debatable) they will all tell Trump to go away and mind his own damn business. Trump took a big loss today. Maybe bigger than Paxton. His public support of Paxton after all of the crimes he is accused of shows Trump does not give a damn about anyone or anything except himself. It was a swift knock out of both Trump and Paxton. Once again Trump is on the losing side. And this time he has declared war on his own supporters and party. I always love a great GOP vs GOP fight and this one is epic. Keep it up Republicans.
