Hochul says she needs "high net worth" people to cut her checks to fund New York's social programs. "I need people who are high net worth to support the generous social programs that we wanna have in our state right now." "...Cut me the checks... The first step should be to go down to Palm Beach and see who you can bring back home, because our tax base has been eroded."

Today, an administrative immigration judge ordered the deportation of Rafael Rubio, a City Council employee. This is an affront to justice. A dedicated public servant with legal authorization to remain in the country, Rafael showed up for a routine immigration appointment and, despite following the rules, he was detained and has now been held for months. He should be immediately released.

Today is Gary Plauché Day. On March 16, 1984, as Jeff Doucet, the man who kidnapped and sexually assaulted Gary’s son, was escorted through the Baton Rouge Airport, Gary Plauché waited by payphones. As Doucet passed, Plauché turned and fatally shot him with a .38 revolver. This was all captured by a local news crew and broadcast widely as vigilante justice. Plauché pleaded no contest to manslaughter and received a seven-year suspended sentence, five years probation, and 300 hours community service. Judge Frank Saia ruled Plauché was “no threat to the community” and he served no prison time. True Legend
