Breaking free from old patterns requires fresh perspectives, and courage to embrace them. Calling balls & strikes. Policy Dir. @RSI **Opinions are my own**

When supervision takes a one-size-fits-none approach, we are all less safe. Right now, federal probation officers are working within a system that has tripled in size over the last few decades, while resources haven’t kept pace. That means individuals who pose a greater risk to public safety are falling through the cracks. The Safer Supervision Act fixes that by taking an individualized approach to risks and needs; creating earned pathways to early termination for those who are rehabilitated and have done the work to rebuild their lives; and giving officers the capacity to focus their attention where it matters most. Our coalition partners @JGKoufos and @GregGlod explain how structural flaws in federal supervision can lead to tragedy — and why these reforms make us all safer. Read it in @DailyCaller.
