@rind_guardian @SlopHq Japanese construction is done by Japanese people usually, but especially sensitive stuff like urban rail. Japan has some of the most expensive urban land on the planet when it comes to urban.

the us pays $390 million per kilometer to build urban rail. spain pays $120 million. india pays $80 million. new york city pays $2.1 billion. same trains. same tracks. same physics. but we added a decade of environmental review and a guy who's concerned about shadows

@billyhollis And how many years will this take them? I have serious doubts this will happen on Windows 11 probably their next iteration, but that thing is probably so bloated with AI and so far in development they'd have to restart the entire thing.

Creating native apps with WinUI is like swimming in a pool. Creating an interactive, immersive web app is like slogging through a swamp. It's no surprise that most web apps end up cutting corners.

Microsoft is putting together a new team to focus on building 100% native apps for Windows 11. And honestly, it’s long overdue. The real problem with Windows 11 isn’t ads, but the shift from native apps to web apps. The rushed adoption of web over native frameworks has hurt Windows 11. From WhatsApp to Weather to the pre-installed video editor, everything is a web app running inside Edge or a Chromium container. Open Task Manager and search for WebView -- you’re going to find many apps are web-based, including Outlook. And this doesn’t even include the Electron apps in Windows 11.

Valve has updated its Steam pricing tools for developers.
They now offer three ways to set regional prices for games:
- Simple currency exchange rate
- Purchasing power parity (based on what people can actually afford)
- A mix of multiple data sources
For a $60 USD game, this can mean very different prices in other countries, like €51, €43, or €62 in parts of Europe.
The change is optional. Existing games stay the same unless updated.

@GearoidReidy I will never buy the water excuse. Everything could have been ready before it. The part through Shizuoka is so tiny they could have built from Tokyo > Kofu and then from Nagano to Nagoya and let it sit. They didn't start the Kofu station construction until 2 weeks ago.

@josesaezmerino Before tabs even existed websites already did this. Not sure why you're so surprised by this it's ancient. Tabs are actually nothing more then an extension of this system going horizontal. But even then it's questionable as bookmarks were basically non permanent tabs.
