I'm not an expert on all these aspects and will watch closely for industry association submissions and reactions, but my first reaction is this is very good progress overall and will help move projects along, and demonstrates a government that took industry concerns seriously.

@ExnerPirot Pretty hard to build nuclear in AB with cheap AECO and inexpensive plants. 1 GW Cascade was under $1B, nothing can match that.

Yes this large reactor build will be expensive but Ontario seems to be the only province in Canada that has figured out that we need to build GWs of new firm electricity generation, and everyone else is just ragging the puck cause they’re afraid of the inevitable rate hikes

Rumoured regulatory streamlining legislation now looking imminent. Look, this may be to distract from the MOU negotiations, but also there are a lot of projects and sectors that need better, faster regulations in Canada and I hope this delivers cbc.ca/news/politics/…

This article doubles as a thank you note to @BradWall306 whose policies gave Saskatchewan opportunity, confidence, ambition and wealth. I’ll note about 15-20 First Nations in Canada understood the recipe better than Ottawa did and created that opportunity for their own nations in the last boom. Hopefully many more follow in their footsteps this cycle.

We’re finally talking about generating wealth in the country, and this commodity cycle presents a generational opportunity to do so. But you don’t build wealth with a AAA credit rating. You build it by embracing resource development, developing policies that encourage it, charging comparatively low taxes, and obeying the principles of free markets. Just ask Saskatchewan, which used the last commodity cycle to be the only province to move from ‘have not’ to ‘have’ status and get on the top half, alongside Alberta, of the GDP per capita ranking the rest of Canada sits beside Mississippi on. thehub.ca/2026/05/05/how…

Nova Scotia is back in the offshore oil and gas business with over $210 million in new private investment. This means real exploration work, good jobs for Nova Scotians, and more opportunity right here at home. It also means growing our economy, strengthening our energy security, and investing more into the services people rely on. Momentum is building and the world is taking notice.  Let's keep going.

Air, yes. That's why these are key. Bunkers. Ekati shafts are 400m-600m deep (below pit) AFAIK. The reason Iran is beating USA is because US can't penetrate deeper than ~100m. They can't hit Fordow. So these shafts give Canada hardened storage of weapons (SAM, MRBM, or even nuke, etc), that no country can touch. No one. And the depth means geothermal heat. Long term survival in Arctic, should a base attack occur. Basically all that's needed is paving the runway and shotcreting the shafts and other cleanup. But everything is there. We need a bunker strategy, bad.

@ExnerPirot Did some work at Ekati in the past. These operations were impressive, both in terms of scale and technology, but also some novel environmental solutions.
