Let’s go to the alligator! 🐊 I just love this little one, who hasn’t quite mastered the nuanced distinction between an “alligator” and an “elevator.” These kinds of linguistic substitutions are very common among toddlers - sometimes because they’re still working to master the pronunciation of certain sounds and at others because they’re mapping new meanings onto similar words they already know. Ask any toddler parent and they’ll tell you that these substitutions can yield some of parenthood’s most memorable laugh lines… not to mention lifelong family nicknames. A favorite memory in our house was when our youngest returned home from preschool eager to share news of a new classmate called “Pooper” (turns out a child named Cooper had enrolled). What about you? @Catherineoscopy Lafayette College in Easton PA offers faculty a 2-course reduction in teaching load (which is effectively a paid semester of leave) to primary caregivers. Applies for birth or adoption of a child under a year old, to a parent of any gender.

So now I’m on the benefits committee this year. We have this issue on the agenda. If your college/uni offers 12(or+) weeks FULL leave FULL pay, please drop the name of your school in the comments. We have a point to make.
