Happy birthday to basketball legend Ann Meyers Drysdale. In 1980, Ann accepted a free agent contract from the NBA Indiana Pacers, becoming the first women to sign with an @NBA club. She was inducted into the @WBHOF-1999 and @NPASHF in 2016.

March 24,1962-Sophomore center Bill Chmielewski leads @DaytonMBB to NIT Championship, with 73-67 victory over St. John’s. Chmielewski, voted MVP, stepped away from basketball and college after that outstanding sophomore year, leaving all to speculate on “what could have been.”

Happy Birthday, J.J. Watt, born on this date in Pewaukee. WI. In the 2011 @NFLDraft ,the defensive end was chosen 11th overall by @HoustonTexans. Suffice it to say he won virtually every notable defensive award during his 12 yr career and at times he also lined up as a tight end

#OTD NFL center & @NPASHF inductee Frank Gatski is born in Farmington, West Virginia. The four-time pro bowl selection played on 8 championship teams during his 12-year @NFL career, and never missed a single game or practice. He was inducted into the @ProFootballHOF-1985

@NPASHF inductee Ted Marchibroda was born #OTD. After 3 consecutive AFC Championships as head coach Baltimore Colts, Ted went on to serve in the same capacity for @Ravens-the only man to serve as head coach for both pro football teams in Baltimore. Ted passed away on Jan.16, 2016

March 13, 1982 –Figure skater & @NPASHF inductee Elaine Zayak lands 6 triple jumps to win the gold medal in the Women’s World Figure Skating Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, defeating Katerina Witt of East Germany and 33 other competitors.

As a player, coach & executive, @NPASHF inductee Vince Boryla excelled at all levels of basketball. @Olympics Gold medalist-1948, @NBA Allstar-1951 & NBA Executive of Year with @nuggets-1985, Boryla was a winner. Vince was born #OTD-1927, and passed away March 27, 2016

A left guard for Houston Oilers from 1982-93; 9-time Pro bowler Mike Munchak was born on this day. In 2001, Munchak was elected to @ProFootballHOF and later served as offensive line coach for the Denver Broncos from 2019-2022. Happy Birthday, @NPASHF Inductee Mike Munchak!

@NPASHF inductee Bob Skoronski was born on this day. A Pro Bowl offensive tackle and two-time Super Bowl champ, Skoronski captained the @packers during the famous “Ice Bowl” – a game which he refers to as the Packers “mark of distinction.” Bob passed away in October 2018.

March 4, 1978-6’11” Sophomore Center Mike Gminski and his @DukeMBB defeat Wake Forest, to capture the 1978 ACC Basketball Tournament, 85-77. As a senior, @NPASHF inductee Gminski would earn the ACC Player of the Year Award, catapulting him to an outstanding 14-year @NBA career

March 3,1985-1984’s LPGA Player of the Year & @NPASHF inductee Betsy King grabs her first win of 1985 season, the Samaritan Turquoise Classic at Arizona Biltmore Country Club. She would go on to win a total of 34 @LPGA events, gaining entry to the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1995

Born in Elyria, OH, the son of Polish immigrants, Vic Janowicz went on to an outstanding college career at @OhioStateFB , where he won the @HeismanTrophy as the nation’s outstanding college player in 1950. Janowicz, is one of three @NPASHF inductees to have won the Heisman.

Born Anthony William Paczkowski in Wellsville, New York, Billy Packer's birthday is today. Opinionated and sometimes controversial, Packer was regarded as one of the most knowledgeable broadcasters in basketball. Bill passed on January 26,2023. @NPASHF

February 22, 2013, after a 16-year @NHL career, center Ed Olczyk was elected to the USA Hockey Hall of Fame. The @NPASHF didn’t need to wait that long to recognize Ed’s hockey accomplishments. He was inducted into the NPASHF in 2004. Read more at: bit.ly/2GIhzT4

Happy Birthday, Alan Trammell! During his MLB career, Alan batted .300+ 7x, won 3 Silver Slugger awards, 4x Gold Glove winner, 6x All-Star, and WS MVP. Alan is both @baseballhall and @NPASHF Inductee, although it took MLB 20 years later to know what the NPASHF knew in 1998.

Born this day -@NPASHF inductee Dick Modzelewski. The West Natrona, PA native won the Outland Trophy as the nation’s top interior lineman in 1952 and followed it up with an outstanding @NFL career spanning 35 years – 14 as a player, and 21 as a coach. Dick passed in 2018.
