What clicked for me: A robot’s intelligence is limited by its hardware. It's not just about power, precision, control, and efficiency are also important. But the logic is clear: -> the world is built for humans -> human data is easier to use -> tasks generalize better Designing robots for the world is easier than redesigning the world for robots. The Key Insight The biggest takeaway for me: Hardware shapes data, and data shapes model performance. You don't just collect data. Your system architecture determines what data is possible. Simulation Has Limits Simulation helps, but it breaks in real conditions: ▪️ complex physics ▪️ real-world contact ▪️ unpredictability At some point, the robot has to work in reality. If I had to sum it up in one sentence: Robotics advances not through a single breakthrough, but through entire systems improving together. And honestly, that makes the field both more challenging and more achievable.

Why most robotics teams underestimate teleoperation There’s a pattern you see again and again in robotics. Teams invest heavily in perception models, planning algorithms, and hardware. They chase higher levels of autonomy, better benchmarks, cleaner demos. And teleoperation? It’s often treated as a temporary workaround. A fallback.
