Turns out those complaining about "the vegetable lobby" are just angry with...the public. Developers have failed to build affordable homes. Scapegoating nature for their failure is wrong. It's also a vote loser.

The Sun calling Starmer’s approach a ‘Brexit betrayal’ is hilarious. Starmer has ruled out the single market, customs union and freedom of movement. The only betrayal happening is of the British people - by a press trying to install Farage. This is the same Murdoch machine that gave us Brexit in the first place.

We need to relearn the art of weighing things up “ on balance”. The current toxic state of with us or against us, yes or no, love or hate is really damaging … the truth:reality always lies somewhere between.

If Rachel Reeves and Keir Starmer continue to chain Britain to a Brexit-built financial crash - if they refuse to fix the structural damage everyone can now see - then the Labour Party has a responsibility that goes beyond loyalty. Country comes before party. Always. We cannot sit and watch another preventable crisis unfold because two leaders are too frightened of Nigel Farage to repair the economy. We cannot sacrifice farmers, small businesses, manufacturing, food security, public services and the next generation just to protect a political narrative that has already collapsed. The choice is brutally simple now: 🇬🇧 Fix Brexit’s damage and rebuild Britain or 💥 Sleepwalk into a financial crisis that wipes out what’s left of our economy. If Reeves and Starmer are unwilling to change course, if they keep rejecting the single market, rejecting cooperation with Europe, rejecting the growth Britain desperately needs then the Labour Party must act. This is bigger than individuals. Bigger than internal politics. This is about national survival. Labour cannot repeat the Tory mistake of clinging to failed leaders while the country burns. If they won’t fix the crisis, they must make way for those who will. Country before party. Always. @labourlewis @AndyBurnhamGM

Rachel Reeves is now in a political trap of her own making. She has raised taxes to record levels, frozen thresholds, squeezed small businesses, and pushed families to breaking point, all while growth flatlines and the OBR quietly admits productivity has collapsed. Here’s the truth nobody in govt will say out loud: 👉None of this can be fixed inside the current Brexit settlement. ❎ Not the lost investment, ❎ not the worker shortages, ❎ not the food inflation, ❎ not the trade barriers, ❎ not the stagnant wages. And now the markets, the public, and her own MPs are turning on her. Reeves has ONE credible way to save her job and the country: Fix the Brexit damage and negotiate UK membership of the EU Single Market. This is not reversing Brexit. It is repairing the structural holes that are now eating the economy alive: 🟦 4% GDP lost to Brexit 🟦 £40bn missing tax revenue 🟦 Small businesses drowning in red tape 🟦 Farmers crushed by export barriers 🟦 Chemical, food, and manufacturing sectors paralysed 🟦 Immigration impossible to control without EU cooperation 🟦 Productivity collapse since leaving the single market Even the most pro-Brexit economists now admit it. If Reeves wants growth, real growth and the single market is the only lever left. And here’s the political irony: ➡️ Re-joining the single market doesn’t need a referendum ➡️ Doesn’t require rejoining the EU ➡️ Doesn’t break a manifesto promise ➡️ Is supported by majority of voters ➡️ Would immediately deliver lower food prices, higher investment, and more exports Reeves can present it as: “A 🇬🇧 deal, for 🇬🇧 stability, to fix British growth.” And she would be right. Right now, she is trapped between furious voters and furious markets. But the escape route is sitting in front of her and Brussels has made clear the door is open. Re-joining the single market is the only move that saves the economy, restores trust, and gives Labour a future. If Rachel Reeves wants to survive this crisis and if Britain wants to escape permanent decline, the choice is simple: ✅ Fix the Brexit termites. ✅ Join the single market. ✅ Start the recovery. 🇬🇧 The country is ready. 🇬🇧 The public is ready. 💰 The economics are undeniable. Now the Chancellor must be brave enough to act.

PFAS “forever chemicals” have now been found in record levels in whales and dolphins. Once we create these substances, they stay in our environment indefinitely. We urgently need stronger controls on the chemical industry and a shift to safer alternatives. #PFAS #Pollution
