My husband and I plan to switch to a fairly restrictive fasting plan during the Nativity Fast as part of our all-out war on his cancer. The plan is as follows: 72-hour water-only fast (with electrolyte supplements) followed by 11 days of eating OMaD (One Meal a Day) with the meal in question being high-quality ketogenic food (wild-caught fish or shrimp, nut butters, coconut oil, avocados, etc) and berries for dessert. Lather, rinse, repeat until Christmas with one day off for Thanksgiving. Cancer thrives on glycogen, so ketones, here we come! Please pray for him, and pray I will be a good support to him. George and Olga are our saint names.

Once a person has gotten to actually cutting parts off, I don‘t doubt their commitment, but I worry about their physical and mental health. Gender dysphorics’ unhappiness with their bodies IS real, and deserves compassion. Anorexia is a similar mental disorder, but we don’t prescribe anorexics diet pills and cut a rib or two out so they can feel thinner; we try to help them accept who they are and see the beauty we see in them. THAT is affirmation. Anything else is abuse.
