@smeaney88 @beth_lindop The goalkeeper situation is already a massive worry given he can't kick the ball any more.

@beth_lindop He may not want to be a squad player Beth but he's been playing second fiddle to Mac Allister all season who's been awful, he should be playing more often, and the goalkeeper situation if Alisson goes is a massive worry, these aren't players we should be letting go this summer

Seen a fair bit of doom-mongering about the potential departure of senior players this summer. Of course, losing multiple leaders in one go is a concern - and sad, considering what they’ve achieved at Liverpool - but equally it shouldn’t be treated as some big conspiracy.

@WC_LFC_Torres You saw some of the players press which was completely alien to how it had looked at the end of Rodgers tenure and it was mind blowing to us. Slot hasn't been able to implement his style realistically, went with what he had last year, probably wanted to change it this year.

@RedOnesIre I’m not joking when I say we showed more of Klopp’s identity in his first game against Spurs than we are showing of Slot’s in his second full season, so I don’t think the tenure argument holds up

I’ve avoiding chiming in on this too much but the “Klopp struggled too” argument really only works if you ignore all other context and just look at results in a vacuum
BAMZ@Lfcbami3

But Jurgen Klopp took us to Europa after we missed out on the champions league spot and we forgave him Liverpool even got knocked out in the quarter finals against Atlanta. Liverpool also bottled the league twice I think and we forgave him . You all stop acting like Klopp was a Superman .

@WC_LFC_Torres I also think its all well and good saying that they kept the same identity no matter how many injuries but Klopp had been there for 5 seasons by the time they had a poor one. Most expensive window in our history but most of that money spent hasn't been available at the same time.

Klopp had several seasons where we struggled but it always felt like the struggles were in spite of Klopp, not because of him I have given Slot a lot more slack than some - because Jota’s passing, lots of new faces and injuries does make things tougher But these are simply not the same - the seasons where Klopp’s teams struggled usually followed periods of a lack of squad investment that caught up with us - Slot’s is following the most expensive window in our history With Klopp, no matter how many injuries we had, the philosophy of how we played the game never seemed to waiver - we had periods where you could tell the players in the squad weren’t up to the task of the style of play we were going for, but that style of play was ever-present With Slot’s second season, the same can’t be said, last season we looked like the natural evolution of Klopp’s style with high energy exciting attacking football mixed with more control and patience when needed - this season I couldn’t even tell you what our style of play is No matter how bad it was under Klopp you could always look at the team and go “I see the vision but it needs improvement in X, Y and Z positions to make it work” - we are not seeing that in Slot’s second season Like I said, I’ve given Slot some grace, the factors I mentioned before are hard and real and people who dismiss them just have an agenda and there’s no two ways about that - but comparing this to Klopp’s poor seasons is just not honest in the slightest

@nikhilvmahajan @PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander I don't believe it can be improved to an acceptable level for him to play regularly enough and at the level he needs to be at. I appreciate the honest discussion too. Thank you.

@RedOnesIre @PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander Sure but you say that if it is a problem that can't be fixed at all. I've been stating repeatedly that it can be improved, may not be completely resolved. I guess we disagree and at this point we are talking past each other. Thanks for the civil conversation.

Alisson is going to play another 5+ years of top European football and be better than any goalkeeper Liverpool have between the sticks in that time. It’s such a stupid footballing decision to let a keeper of this caliber go until they’re completely and utterly washed.

@CallumWright28 @Das_FPL @OneSGW You're right it doesn't, but it does give the squad a real boost, especially when they hit the ground running like both Guehi and Semenyo did. Liverpool saw it with Diaz in January of 2022 as well.

So Chelsea and Liverpool are the 2 teams that have been outrun this season. Chelsea basically didn’t have a pre season due to the Club World Cup. Liverpools pre season was hugely disrupted due to the death of a teammate. Well no shit Sherlock!

@nikhilvmahajan @PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander It shows his hamstrings have consistently been an issue, which is now worsening due to age and wear and tear on his body. It doesn't matter if he isn't old for a keeper, it matters that he can't get on the pitch often enough.

@RedOnesIre @PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander Still doesn't show a spike that we see this season and last. Whether to keep him or not is a separate topic, the simple thing to ask is why is there a spike in injuries and that's down to conditioning. The other thing to ask is if he's old now for a GK. He isn't!

@nikhilvmahajan @PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander He's missed around 70 games through injury over the course of his Liverpool career. That's just over 1 in 5 games. He's a phenomenal goalkeeper and my favourite player but he's massively on the decline. We shouldn't be keeping him in the hope he could stay fit.

@nikhilvmahajan @PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander Or you could say it has happened consistently throughout his career and is going to continue getting worse. He can't kick the ball any more, when he does it doesn't reach the half way line.

@RedOnesIre @PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander Age is one factor. He has muscle injuries which largely are dependent on conditioning and training. He's not old for a GK. The GK coach has changed too. All this suggests that under the right regime he will be able to continue playing at the highest level longer.

@nikhilvmahajan @PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander He has consistently missed far more games than any goalkeeper I can think of both under Klopp and under Slot. The training methods are not the problem. Age is the main factor for the uptick in the last while. Well he could be wrong, we won't know until it happens will we?

@RedOnesIre @PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander As always, it is worth asking how and why has he so frequently been injured. Why is there a spike particularly this season and last. The answer is likely a combination of age and training methods of the coach. Change those and his availability will improve. Efran isn't wrong.

@BillyPrice_96 @nocontextfm1 Ah but throughout the season they've played teams who, even though they're City, they still push up high and get caught. 9/10 times against Arsenal, teams are just banking on the edge of their box, it's crazy.

@nikhilvmahajan @PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander He's missed 42 games between the start of last season and now. And like you said he's also played games this season when injured. You can't keep a player like that especially on the wages he's on.

@PhilBlundell @EfranAlexander He can't kick the ball properly when he is injured or recovering from one and rushed back to play. Which is largely what has happened this season. He's fine otherwise.

@GooalMouth Think people's perception of times is mad. We won the CL and PL under Klopp 7 and 6 years ago. You can't keep the majority of a squad together for that long.

@Das_FPL @OneSGW City bought players in January when they were faltering, PSG players play less minutes over the course of a season by far than PL players, 34 games, no league cup, fixtures moved whenever they want, rested against poorer opposition.

Imagine stating that you have 'no faith' in a manager that has won a PL title and the league in his own country prior. NO faith? None at all? Really? Like he's all of a sudden become some completely clueless simpleton? Wow.

@Maloops @liverpaul66 1. Squad unfinished and unbalanced ahead of this season. 2. Don't get to his position without being a good man manager. 3. Integrates the only youth that are at the level to play. 4. Doesn't matter unless things are going badly. 5. Hopefully less crazy things happen next season.
