Actress and singer Laura Benanti had her pride hurt when on a plane because a theater group of teenagers didn’t recognize her. She said, “I could not tolerate that.” So she asked them, “Are you guys part of a theater group?” They said yes. She then said, “I do theater.” To which a young man said, “Cool.” Would you recognize her?

@1sketchyv @RealDonKeith They have the right to protest. What you mean to say is that you can't justify the homicides here, but you support them anyway bc you treat politics like a religion. Just like the leftists you hate. Well, karma has a way of dealing with ppl who wish violence on others.

When it comes to Pretti and Good, they were both unlawfully killed. The far right is the only one that supports those killings apparently out of political alignment of all fucking things. No one argues the Pretti case, generally bc it's open and shut. The Good case is a case of officer created jeopardy. Agent Ross ha previously been deployed along the US border where a tactic was used to shoot at their enemies in vehicles. They would position themselves in front and claim fear for their lives, and then execute the occupants. In Minnesota, he saw the opportunity to do the same to Good and he took it. He positioned himself in front of her vehicle, switched his phone to his left hand to free up his shooting hand and he pretended to be in danger while executing Good. He didn't expect the media attention, tho. Use of force doctrine is written specifically to avoid the police using that tactic. If an officer places himself in harm's way, he must move and can not use the danger he placed himself in as justification for use of lethal force. But they're not even investigating him. I know everyone hates liberals, but if you allow them to do this to liberals, they will do it to you next. It's corruption. Police should be held accountable when they unlawfully kill American citizens. idgaf who is in office, or what agency is doing it or who supports the mission. No unlawful killing of American citizens should be the standard, your political opponent or not. latimes.com/nation/la-na-b…

@JimmyRu52630895 @amuse Prescot Balch, the same person on a panel in my town spoke in Festus MO on March 8. The signs at Festus are the same, the arguments are the same, even when they don't apply.

@RussHickson @amuse Yep, that happens all the time. but this isn’t that. This is a fairly united rural republican community. Even if they’re wrong, it’s not liberal ideology, it’s mostly a conflict of culture for ther farming community and some legitimate concerns about electricity prices.

@amuse We have a Data Center going in a few miles from me, I feel like I'm the only person supporting it. The parcel has been zoned industrial for decades. Chrysler was going to build a plant there 50 years ago. Whole town is up in arms, has no respect for private property rights.

@skscartoon Low IQ cartoon. It‘s not like decades long intervention in the middle east by the USA (& Israel) literally caused a boulder to exist in the first place before they decided to bomb it.

@CanYouHearMeSMH @LeeCEldridge @mattyglesias What goalposts were moved? Those opposing it had always felt we gave up too much without addressing non-nuclear issues including ballistic missile development, support for global terrorist operations, and stockpiling of offensive weapons. This was ALWAYS part of their argument

I know I’m a little hung up on this but the shameless dishonesty of the Iran Hawks who vociferously denied that their preferred alternative to JCPOA was war only to turn around and insist this war was necessary really bothers me.

@WayneLance @joyncassie @mattyglesias A bad deal for who? The federal government has spent more dealing with Islamists in the middle east then all domestic programs combined over the last 25 years. A couple hundred billion to bomb Iran back into the stone ages may be well worth it in the long term.

@RussHickson @joyncassie @mattyglesias A bad deal made quickly is still a bad deal. Spending mass amounts of US resources on a war with no strategic objective, when a deal is on the table makes no sense. Crawl out from under OAN news and google it.

@WayneLance @joyncassie @mattyglesias Oman and UK reps claimed Iran accepted our offer? Source? When naval forces are gathering on your borders, you should realize that you need to get a deal done NOW. Trump made clear he was done pussyfooting around with Iran, and that he was not happy with progress in talks.

@RussHickson @joyncassie @mattyglesias Oman and UK reps involved in the negotiations don't back that story up. Iran was putting their nuclear program on the table. They did it in 2015, too. Trump bombed them while still getting concessions.

@stormynormy42 @LeeCEldridge @mattyglesias That is not what he said. As I stated,Trump always maintained Iran should not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon, and as early as 2015 that we needed to maintain a credible threat against them.

@RussHickson @LeeCEldridge @mattyglesias Trump: "they'll start a war with this specific nation if they win, I will not" You: "clearly that was hyperbole and what he really meant is that he would start a war with that specific country, like he said the other people would" Do you hear yourself?

Again, sincerely asking just one (1) JCPOA opponent to stop lying about the sequence of events here. JCPOA happened. Some people didn’t like it. Proponents said “the realistic alternative to this is war.” Opponents angrily denied that. And now here we are._
Russell Hickson@RussHickson

@mattyglesias It was not a flip flop, arguments against the JCPOA always included a credible threat to deter Iranian aggression. In 2015 Trump argued the US should not take military options off the table. Trump never ruled out strikes, this year he saw the opening, and need and took it.
