@Rasterblath @Pirat_Nation Minecraft is the perfect example of game preservation done right. Offline play, LAN, self-hosting, and third-party servers all work independently of Mojang.

Huge win for gamers and consumer rights! The California State Assembly just passed AB 1921, the Protect Our Games Act. It passed on the floor by a vote of 43 to 16. The bill would force video game companies to give players a heads-up before they shut down the servers for a game. It would also make them provide a way for people to keep playing afterward, like adding offline mode or letting community servers take over. Quick recap of what the bill does: >60-day advance notice before any server shutdown or major service change that would make a game unplayable in its “ordinary use.” >Companies must then provide a workable solution so players can keep playing, usually an offline mode/patch, community server support, or (in some cases) a full refund. >Applies to digital games first sold or substantially re-released in California after January 1, 2027. >Does not affect subscription games, free-to-play titles, or games that are already permanently offline/single-player. >Enforceable by the Attorney General or district attorneys. In short: If you buy a game, you should still be able to play it even after the company moves on. No more “purchase” turning into a rental that expires when the servers die.

@ipfire This is why I built OnemanBSD OS — full self-contained rebuild so you don't depend on anyone’s servers. All sources bundled. Minimal JWM desktop. Works great on old ThinkPads. bialamusic.com/onemanBSD/

most “self-custodial” claims in ai are still theater. they still rely on shared secrets, server-side keys, or recovery mechanisms that can be forced or leaked. @TheARCTERMINAL is going much deeper. they let you derive your encryption keys directly from hardware ... touch id, windows hello, or yubikey. the keys never leave your device. never hit their servers. no shared secrets. no backdoor possible through operator access, subpoena, or recovery bullshit. this turns arc from just another private ai into something closer to a true self-custodial onchain operating system. your keys. your agent. your rules. when your intelligence layer and your agents are protected at the same root level as your private keys, the entire trust model changes. this is sovereignty done properly ...not marketing, but architecture that removes the middleman at the deepest level. the standard for serious users just got raised again. @XOOBNetwork @quipnetwork @3look_io @sleepagotchi @wallchain

ARC Terminal@TheARCTERMINAL

Your ARC account starts on your hardware. Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a YubiKey derives the key. ARC never receives it. No shared secret on the server. Nothing for an operator to leak, lose, subpoena, or quietly recover.

@MadarM49564 @TheARCTERMINAL Self-sovereign systems are where Web3 starts to feel less like infrastructure users depend on and more like infrastructure users actually control

The future of digital ownership is shifting toward true autonomy. With @TheARCTERMINAL building around Your keys Your agent Your rules the message is clear users should control their intelligence assets and data without compromise. This is where the next phase of Web3 gets real: → Self sovereign agents → User owned private intelligence → Secure execution without surrendering control → Infrastructure designed around freedom not dependency @NomismaNetwork are pushing decentralized financial intelligence forward creating systems where ownership and privacy stay with users. @3look_io is redefining social interaction in Web3 by building creator driven ecosystems where participation creates real onchain value. Together, this is the bigger shift. A future where intelligence is private. Ownership is absolute. And the rules belong to users. The next evolution of Web3 won’t be custodial. It will be sovereign.

@FT Is this a parody account. Like the EU has a chance at 'tech sovereignty' Most companies in the EU can't even put up a decent website. Many don't respond or have email. Obviously, you are making a joke.

@railfan1976 @SUSE @nextcloud It is not! Today open source is just allowed to read source hosted on centralized servers like github. Access and right to edit is in the hands of NGOs and foundations. Mess of lib dependencies and bloat everywhere. We need offline OpenSource: youtube.com/watch?v=2wHaoQ…

@KrishnaBuildsAI Better ask this: If Linux is completely free then who pays for its developments? Then you will find the same Big Tech names as usual... Then ask WHY and WHO controls open source!!! All source is sitting on github which is own by Microsoft then how Linux can be thread to Windows
