It was never about those innocent children. It was a reason to be racist. Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson spread misinformation. Idiots. The lot of them. #onedayinsouthport

Ten years ago, Jeremy Corbyn became leader of the Labour Party and for a brief period in recent history there was a time of real hope that things would change and that the inequalities, injustice and social devastation caused by Thatcherism could be repaired. Unfortunately, no-one was prepared for the backlash that Corbyn’s democratic leadership win would cause. As a man who has always advocated for peace and for the rights of the dispossessed and marginalised, Corbyn was immediately seen as a troublesome interloper by the Establishment and not least by the right wing Blairite faction of his own party. Despite a massive campaign to discredit him and subversion from within the bureaucracy of the @UKLabour Party, Corbyn gained almost 13 Million votes in the 2017 election - nearly 13 Million hopeful citizens who were inspired by his message and wanted to see the back of the Tories. Approximately 3 Million more votes than Starmer gained last year. After that showing in 2017, the campaign to remove Corbyn became more concerted and more sinister, ultimately leading to him being expelled from the Labour Party under a spurious motion drawn up by Starmer and @ShabanaMahmood and endorsed by the NEC pack of wolves - Luke Akehurst et al - who were only too happy to see the back of Corbyn. And what are we left with ten years later? A Labour government with Starmer, Reeves, Streeting, Kendall, Nandy et al at the helm. A Labour government so diametrically opposed to the original purpose and traditions of the Labour Party itself, a Labour government zealously penalising the most vulnerable in society. I still feel very sad that the hope Jeremy Corbyn inspired was extinguished by some of the most callous and unscrupulous individuals I have ever seen in politics - most if not all who have been rewarded for what they did to Corbyn. Politics is a dirty business and what they did to Corbyn was as dirty as it gets. The Labour Party under this lot is the most depressing of prospects.
