Today, I took the next step to move forward on the Social Security Fairness Act on the floor of the U.S. Senate.
A strong bipartisan bill that already passed the House.
It would ensure Americans are not erroneously denied their well-earned social security benefits simply because they chose at some point to work in their careers in public service.

@SenSchumer THANK you for fighting for what is right. I have never been so passionate about anything before. I worked hard in the private sector to then switch to working in the school system. I had no idea what that meant at that point - and what it would do to my hard earned social sec.

In America, there’s a basic promise that if you work hard all your life, play by the rules and contribute year after year, then you deserve a secure retirement!

We are saddened by the passing of former MLB pitcher Jim Poole at 57. Jim appeared in 431 games from 1990-2000 and pitched for Cleveland in the 1995 World Series. A consummate teammate & venerable clubhouse presence, he was an integral part of our 2022 Lou Gehrig Day & will be remembered as a graceful warrior in the fight against ALS. Our thoughts are with Jim’s family & friends.
